Search Engine Reset

I used to be able to type a search in the address line of Internet Explorer & utilize Microsoft’s search engine. However, I must have downloaded something from the internet that has re-set this. Now when I do this, I use a search engine called “Quick”, and it does a very, very poor job of searching the internet.

Does anyone know how I can return to my previous settings & get rid of this “Quick” search engine? I’ve tried everything, but I’m unable to get rid of this. Please help!!

First run Spybot and/or Ad-aware to remove any spyware components. Then, if the default search engine is still incorrect, go to View|Explorer Bar|Search in IE, click Customize, then Autosearch settings and choose the one you want. In the WinXP version go to Change preferences, then Change Internet search behavior.
