Now that doesn’t rhyme at all.
Wow, I can’t remember the last time I checked out these boards, but the first thing I wanted to do was search. I know nothing about server hardware/software/etc. but isn’t the potential for repeat posts a load on the server as well. I will definitely not be resubscribing if this doesn’t get fixed. 
I must echo the comments raised there are bigger, more robust message boards using the same technology that do not experience the problems the SDMB suffers ad infinitum. And they are all free.
You do the math.
I can only reconcile the subscription knowing that I belong to group of people who for the most part love to play hard, work hard and share their intelligence, their wisdom, their insight, their humor, their grief, etc., … with others and ask nothing in return.

Yeah, losing search is a bitch, but in the grand scheme of things, if I have to get away from the SDMB and go play outside on occasion, then such is life.

Ditto. Never even tried it, and I’ve been here for seven years now.
The board is definitely faster the last few days, FWIW.
Is it possible to have a “new posts” search func without a general search option enabled? If so, I sure wish that could be compromisedly turned on.

It should be and I have already asked for such. I am hoping we get a response by tomorrow or at least an update on how long the search will be off. This open ended situation is almost as annoying as the lack of search itself.
I tried a PM today and I guess I will try an Email tomorrow.

No, sorry, you lose that bet. I’ve spent money at McDonald’s only once, and that was ten years ago, about $3.50. And I don’t go to places of “similar quality.”

I’m pretty much exclusively a “User CP”-clicker.
And obviously I browse thread titles occasionally.
The fact that McDonald’s sucks has very little to do with this message board. We pay for use of this board and right now we’re not getting full value for our money. I agree that lack of the search function for a week isn’t a major deal, but it is a pain, and we have a right to inquire.
