Well… I’m seraching for a specific song by a specific singer but…I don’t remember the name of the singer, nor the tittle of the song, nor what the song was about. Going to be easy, no?
The only things I remember :
-The singer is famous, though not a recent artist
-He has said he had been influenced by Leonard Cohen (and in fact it shows in this song). Won’t help much, but I remember this bit of information.
-There’s a video clip of this song showing him with I guess other members of his band rowing in a boat.
So, in case these informations are sufficient to ring a bell, thanks in advance
Nick Cave has been greatly influenced by Cohen. He even did a cover of I’m Your Man for the documentary of Cohen that goes by the same name. He also did a video for The Weeping Song which has him rowing in a boat with collaborator and former Bad Seed (and Einstürzende Neubauten frontman) Blixa Bargeld.
EDIT: Also, looking at your question again, I can see that I didn’t even answer it properly, if Nick Cave is indeed the artist you’re thinking about. I don’t think The Weeping Song video has anything to do with Cohen.
In fact, I didn’t know at all Nick Cave (apart from his name) and was once shown some of his songs on you tube by a friend. And the way Nick Cave sings in “The weeping song” struck me immediately as very reminiscent of Cohen, whom I like a lot (even though obviously, the lyrics aren’t in any way similar to what Cohen usually sings).
I searched a bit on the internet, and found out that indeed Nick Cave had stated he had been influenced by Cohen. That’s why I remembered it. And also why I was searching again for this song, having meanwhile forgotten everything else about it.
