Seattle sports bar recommendations, please

I’ve been nominated to arrange a beer-and-baseball afternoon for about a half-dozen menfolk as an alternative to a baby shower. If I can’t manage Mariners tickets I’d like to have us repair to a place with good beer and numerous TVs on which to watch baseball. I don’t know these guys very well so I’m not yet sure whether they’d prefer a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall or something more chain-restauranty.

Anyone have favorites? Seattle city limits, please, unless your favorite Eastside joint is super-exceptional…

Thanks in advance,
E.

Consider Jules-Maes Saloon. It’s not really a sports bar (the game should be on though), but it’s fun, has good food, and is near Safeco Field.

What neighborhood? What is your level of “diveyness?” Do you require the sound to be on the game?

Ballard: Sloop, Wingmasters, The Matador, Lock and Keel
Fremont: Dubliner, Doc Watsons, Norm’s
Greenwood: Bleachers
Wallingford: not much there maybe Kate’s Pub or go up to Greenlakingford to Leny’s.
Teddys on Roosevelt and 65th in U-Dist
Down by Safeco you can try Jersey’s.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll check 'em out. To answer the questions…

Neighborhood: any of the ones listed above should be fine. The baby shower is in Beacon Hill but I see no reason to stay there. I live on Capitol Hill, which I don’t think is known for its sports bars.

Level of diveyness: not sure, as I don’t know these guys well. For me personally, as long as there is basic cleanliness and no fighting, I’m OK.

Sound: yes, I think that would be nice.

Other suggestions welcome, and thanks again.

check out Wingmasters in Ballard. Definitely a Ms bar. Especially if you bring in 5+ people. Tell them you are there for drink and food and they’ll turn the juke box off. Majority rules. if you are there for the game, they’ll show the game. Good food – tis the pub grub but they have good wings and burgers. The cheese sticks are HUGE.

disclaimer: this is my neighborhood pub and I know everyone in there so I’m not exactly objective.

other than that Teddy’s in U-dist is good. The owner is a big baseball fan. No food there though but they’ll let you bring in food from any other place and there is pizza, burgers, etc in the neighborhood.
