“TEA Party”? Is she turning it into an acronym now?
Irresponsible assignment of blame? That’s a good one now because the Tea Party has begun blaming the VICTIMS. Isn’t that special.

Gohmert Says FBI ‘Stonewalled’ On Shooter Profile To Avoid ‘Embarrassing’ Obama’s Constituents
The shooter was a liberal, and the FBI is covering it up to avoid embarassing lefties. I guess because of the FBI’s longstanding affection and respect for leftist causes.
I swear, I am not making this up!
If there ever was a fact that proved that there is no equivalency between the extremes of the Left and the Right, it’s right fucking here. Simply put, right-wingers are four times more likely to threaten violence than leftists. And that is not even accounting for the fact that Bush was actually guilty of the majority of the stuff the Left had against him.
Some people say it stands for Taxed Enough Already.
It started out as an acronym (or at least they reverse engineered an acronym at the beginning of it all). Taxed Enough Already. Clever, huh?
Yeah, but Jon Stewart said some really sarcastic things about Bush!
Yeah, and Kanye West said George Bush doesn’t care about black people. That was really hurtful to George Bush.
But more hurtful to black people, who had no idea he disliked them.
From a link in **elucidator’**s cite,
CMC fnord!
It’s really something. They call for second amendment solutions and taking people out, they blame the victims for getting shot, and now they are playing the victim because apparently ONLY they are allowed to say any hard words.
I can use all sorts of violent imagery and threatening postures and say anything I want, any way I want, but if you tell me to stop that’'s bad.
So, in other words freedom of speech ONLY applies to them, and if anyone gets killed (which has happened regardless of who actually pulled the trigger) they are the victims, not the people bleeding out on the floor. Death threats are OK (no matter how THINLY veiled) but perceived bad manners is unacceptable
Disgusting. These are the fucking “patriots”. I think I wanna puke.
The word has been slung around so much recently that it made me wonder. I, in fact, studied Rhetoric in my 12th grade Accelerated English class. I remember writing detailed essays that were graded rather stringently. So, I checked up on the definition.
Well, it* could* be deadly boring.
But we were not encouraged to use veiled death threats in our compositions. Even in Texas.
I tried to use irony once, and was banished.
I am a relative newcomer to the world of politics, never gave it much thought until mid 2006 when I saw a televised speech of Barack Obama’s that made the hair on my arms stand up and tears come to my eyes. However, in the lead up to the 2008 elections, I do not recall vitriolic rhetoric that espoused violence against government if one does not agree with political positions of their elected officials. This seems to be a new, and horrifying, twist to the already heated, mud-slinging, name calling, one-upmanship contest that currently serves as our political arena. One who aspires to achieve office should, ideally, have the best interests of this country at heart. Promoting violence, encouraging people to take up arms against their government, and otherwise inciting riot CANNOT be good for this country and those that insist upon this course of action should be held to account when their seeds bear fruit.
Wikitionary has the 2nd definition:
"Meaningless language with an exaggerated style intended to impress. "
The negative connotation has become much more predominant lately than the former connotation.
This Time article does a pretty good job of piecing together Loughner’s background, state of mind and possible motivations from what is now known about him:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/09171204235800
Bottom line: “In short, saying Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck caused Loughner’s actions is, to put it charitably, completely idiotic.”
Time Magazine: pot. Loughner: kettle.
Nadir regularly complains of Smokey Bear’s ‘attacks’ on careless smokers during fire season.
It’s true though, not every smoker who chucks his butt out the window is guilty of burning down the forest.
