Around here, some people scrape up money by collecting cardboard and taking it to a recycling center for a fee. Invariably, the vehicle used in this enterprise is an old half-ton pickup with two tons of cardboard stuffed into it. This feat is accomplished by the addition of tall siding to the truck bed, made from scraps of plywood or sheet metal. Of course, the excessive weight of all this cardboard deforms the bed outwards and downwards, but this just means that more volume is available for more cardboard.

Of course, the distance driven to the recycling center costs more in fuel than they are getting from the cardboard. I know. I’ve been there.

I gree. ‘taint Jethro’s fault. Thems interstates is for trash distro-beau-ton. I’m hearin’ them landfills are bad.

But if ya spread it out over 50 miles, it’s almost like it 'taint there atall.

Yeah, sorry I forgot to add that part. The other day one of these trucks thought I had a missile lockon, so he was dumping chaff all over the place. He was also threatening to launch a rear firing ladder until I got out from behind him.

Drat, that’s what I forgot at the repair place… to have them install the forward rocket launchers…
