Seeing famous actors before they were famous

Sylvester Stallone meets Woody Allenin 1971.

Virginia Christine (aka “Mrs Olsen” of Folger’s Coffee fame) was the German Hausfrau in that movie. She also played Eva, the Scandinavian immigrant, in the unintentionally hilarious Billy the Kid vs. Dracula (1966).

“The Project Strigas Affair,” 24 Nov 1964.

Jane Lynch was in an episode of Gilmore Girls, as ‘nurse’.

Oooh oooh oooh - I know this; The Lavender Hill Mob; she lights Alec Guinness’ cigarette. One of the best actors ever in one of the best films ever. And Hepburn wasn’t bad, either…

About 8 years before that, she had a minor role in the movie The Fugitive.

Wanna play THAT game…

Floyd the Barber’s shop, from Mayberry in Star Trek - City on the Edge of Forever. They reused the Mayberry set and Kirk and Edith Keeler walked right past his store.

Ooh. And even better link of Mayberry and Star Trek!

Andy Garcia in Stand and Deliver. You get a glimpse of his future badass self when he yells his outrage (“No one has the right to accuse me of racism. <pause> NO ONE has the RIGHT to ACCUSE ME OF RACISM!” :::hair flopping everywhere::: ) when Escalante confronts him at the testing office.

Which also included a young Julianne Moore.

Hell, I can beat that…I remember Julianne Moore (and Meg Ryan, and Marisa Tomei) when they were on As The World Turns!

Moore
Ryan
Tomei

Patrick Swazye near the end of Toto’s “Roseanna” video. He’s one of the street gang fighters in the end.

Of course, I didn’t know it was him when I first saw the vid. TY Youtube.

I first saw Jenna Elfman in Depeche Mode’s Halo video. Same situation of me not knowing it was Jenna.

And also, Brad Pitt on Head of the Class, a blond bimbo dating the brunette artist student (that actress went on to marry the drummer of INXS).

whoops I meant mimbo!

Has anyone seen Frankie and Johnny with Pacino and Pfeiffer? The food delivery guy who drops off the food while Frankie and Johnny were getting it on…was that Frank Black??

Heh surprised to see this thread still around…

Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader on the old Electric Company. It seems like he perpetually looks like an old guy.

Jennifer Lopez as one of the Fly Girl dancers on In Living Color.

New people that are famous since this was first posted:

Tom Hardy as the Jean Luc Picard clone in Star Trek Nemesis.

Shia Lebouf as the adopted Bosley in Charlies Angels 2.

Shia LeBeouf in Even Stevens.

Nathan Fillion as Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live from 1994 to 1997. That’s when I started keeping an eye out for him. (In '94 he would have been about 23…Good I wasn’t being a perv after all.)

And Rose Buck (Jean Marsh from “Upstairs, Downstairs”) was Octavian’s sister Octavia and married to Mark Antony (Richard Burton).

Cloris Leachman made her film debut in an uncredited role in 1947’s “Carnegie Hall” that featured a whole bunch of long haired classical musicians. Hard to believe now, but classical music used to be referred to as “longhair”.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Richard Linklatter’s wonderful Dazed and Confused with a just starting out Matthew “all right, all right, all right” McConaghey and pre-Good Will Hunting Ben Affleck.

Look for a brief cameo by an unknown Renee Zellwegger. IMDB says she was in an uncredited role as “girl in blue pickup”.

I haven’t read through this whole thread but thought I’d mention that I just watched Freaks And Geeks for the first time and spotted a youngRashida Jones as the girl that bullies Sam and paints “geek” on his locker (until Kim straightens her ass out).
I’ve had a crush on her since she was on The Office.

A very young George Takei (StarTrek) had a bit part in “West Side Story”. I don’t think he got knifed in a gang rumble.

Nobody’s mentioned the movie Stand By Me. Lots of pre-stardom stars in that one!
