Seeing spots- a sign of something else going on?

I have a medical question.
As a preface, I’m a henna artist, so I spend hours at a time concentrating on something small and moderately close-up. I also run an online business, so I’m in front of a standard computer monitor several hours a day. I read paperbacks daily, and I also embroider, but not daily. A couple years ago, I had a corneal transplant due to shingles scarring my previous cornea. It went fine. I am still extremely nearsighted without correction.

July 4th weekend, I was applying henna to someone when all the sudden there was a splodge of what you see when you close your eyes overlaying my vision. I could work through it, but I stopped hennaing for a while. It wore off after an hour or so.
Then last week, I noticed another splodge, much smaller this time, and it’s stayed there. So far as I can tell, it’s NOT in the eye with the transplant. Looking at this entry form on a 800x600 resolution standard monitor, the splodge is in the upper left-hand corner of the text entry box. It looks like the changing-black color stuff you see when you close your eyes. If I look at a well-lit light-colored surface, it looks kinds grey and I can see stuff going through it, like blood cells or something. When I close my eyes, it’s like a bright
What has happened here? I don’t remember looking at anything so brilliant it caused me to feel uncomfortable, so I don’t think I’ve burned out a receptor or something. Could this be a sign of something else more serious? It’s a very small nuisance right now, but if it’s a sign of something else, I don’t want the something else to go further. I am overweight but otherwise in good health.

Go see a doctor immediately. Your vision is nothing to screw around with.

You would be smart to be checked out by a doctor. I have the same problem occasionally; it’s related to my diabetes.

My wife had a similar experience.

I’d recommend you see an opthomolgoist at your earliest convenience. She would be able to determine the severity of the problem and recommend a course of action.

Rabbititus, perhaps?

What does the first stages of Glaucoma or detached retina look like to the victim? Maybe what you have?

These things lead to blindness, but are probably treatable if caught quickly. Don’t mess around.

(I’m not a doctor, but if this started happening to my eyes I’d go see one fast.)

I’ve experienced “floaters”, flashing lights, off and on, and one time an oval translucent circle right in the middle of my vision. None proved to be serious and are signs of aging mostly. But, if it doesn’t go away, for example, the flashing should only last about 15 minutes and although the floaters are permanent and come and go, if they seriously obscure vision there is something that can be done. If you want reassurance you need to see a retinologist, not an opthamologist, for more sophisticated tests. The opthamoligist was not able to see the problem and referred me to the retinologist, for the brown circle, which by the way, vanished in a couple of days. Wait and see, if it’s not an emergency, is my moto because she offered to do laser surgery, which would have left a black spot in my vision.
