I currently have a Rhapsody-to-Go subscription and regularly download MP3s onto my MP3 player. It’s not a perfect system, because I’m always having to update the tracks or completely re-download them long before my ‘‘one month’’ is up.
But hey, unlimited music for $15 seems worth the annoyances.
…Except when I travel.
If everything goes my way, I’ll be leaving one year from now to spend 6 months in Ecuador, and you can be damned sure I want my music with me. Problem is, I can’t update the tracks on the player from a location other than the computer where I downloaded them. I probably will bring my laptop to Ecuador, but I probably will not have access to internet with it.
And besides, I’m getting sick of never having my tracks play suddenly when I’m stranded somewhere for hours. I can’t even take a 10-day vacation without something going wrong (Napster isn’t any better, either, in my experience.)
So I was thinking, maybe I ought to do away with the subscription service and just purchase the tracks individually. It would take long time to build up a formidable library, and a lot of money, too… but hey, it’s not like I don’t have the time.
Has anybody had success in doing this, just purchasing tracks outright? Are there risks involved I am overlooking? Can I purchase all these tracks and then still have something go horribly wrong with them once in Ecuador? Inquiring minds want to know and all that…
Thanks,
Christy
