Seems like just the other day, not getting haircuts and being made to wear masks was tyranny

The National Guard was used to disperse a peaceful protest before the time of curfew so that Trump could take a walk to a church, from which clergy had also been forcibly cleared by that deployment despite being on the church’s own property.

So I’ve got a lot less faith than you do that further such deployments wouldn’t also be improperly used.

ETA: partially beaten to it by running coach.

Since you have been educated that nothing you typed here is based in what actually happened, you plan on commenting on what actually happened? Or just gonna leave this here and the corrections below it?

Tear gas was employed. Please don’t spread misinformation.

Perhaps you have not been following the news carefully, but numerous riots that have caused billions of dollars worth of damages and killed several people and sent many more to the hospital had broken out in many cities across the countries. This is why many people are advocating the military step in or police departments use more aggressive tactics to curtail the violence.
Perhaps the police should not have used pepper bullets when clearing Lafayette Square so Trump could safely inspect the damage that happened to a historic church, but there are bigger issues at play than park police clearing a square too roughly.

He didn’t “inspect the damage to a historic church.” He stood on the sidewalk and held up a bible for a few seconds. Then invited some of his sycophants to stand next to him and get their pictures taken.

Puddleglum is wrong even when the discussion is how he was previously wrong.

Please provide a cite that he tear gassed the pastors there in order to inspect the damage, because I’ve watched the video and he did zero inspecting.

I think you’re spreading a falsehood because you’ve been lied to by bad news sources and I suggest you get better ones.

Bigger issues than shutting down by force a legal citizens’ protest, in a non-emergency situation; and forcibly removing clergy on the grounds of a church; so that an official can take an entirely unnecessary walk?

That is an absolutely huge issue. It calls into question the entire rule of law.

Even if Trump had gone to inspect the damage, which he didn’t, there would have been no legitimate reason to go about it like that.

Just out of curiosity, should your domicile become newsworthy enough for a photo-op, would you welcome being driven from your home by government agents with tear gas* and rubber bullets?

Many other errors of fact with puddleglum’s posts have been pointed out, but I’ll just add that it wasn’t “park police”, nor any other police that cleared the square. They were not wearing ANY clearly identifying insignia. It is a matter of some dispute just exactly WHO the goons overseen by William Barr were, but the best guess is that they were a conglomeration of DEA agents and Federal prison guards. At least two of them have been identified (starting from their tee-shirts) as COs from a federal prison in Texas.
