Seen in Passing

I don’t know whether this will stir up discussion or die, or whether people will be moved to list their own odd sightings here.

Today was the Raleigh Christmas Parade (held the Saturday before Thanksgiving the last 61 years). Nice parade, lots of bands and floats.

But what particularly caught my attention was the Wake County Library System entry, which featured, no joke, the Library Book Cart Precision Drill Team.

Four librarians, wearing reindeer-antler headgear, pushing decorated book carts. Which they moved in synchronized, Esther Williams movie, type fashion.

Bizarre and beautiful.

That’s my sighting of the day.

When do they hold the Thanksgiving parade?

That’s nothin’ - my local community has their annual Mardi Gras parade on…the first weekend in December. That’s right, we’ll be celebrating Mardi Gras in two weeks. Santa does make an appearance, though.
