Seesil or sessil?

Juan Agudelo, technically your question wasn’t related to Cecil’s column. It was more of a follow on to the topic, sort of extending the subject because the topic made you think of something that bugged you. It probably would have been more correct to post a new question in GQ rather than sidetrack here. I kinda felt it followed on the direction the conversation had turned, and the answer was pretty simple, so I answered anyway.

Arnold, I think it is arguable that the comment isn’t related. The point of the thread was pronunciation, and the question was about pronunciation. Given some of the other fluff in the thread, I think it is at least as relevant as the pronunciation of “Babar”. But that’s just me.

Irishman, are you dissing me?!? I’ll see you in The Pit!

But in the meantime, I will say that the series of Juan Agudelo’s questions on the pronunciation of english were a legitimate, serious issue, worthy of more than a sidebar in a thread where people discuss how to say “Cecil”. Whereas the pronunciation of Babar can be seen as an amusing aside. I’m not upset with Juan Agudelo, but the question deserves its own thread.
