Self-identify your "Region"

Suburban Indianapolis
the Midwest
Great Lakes Region (more so the state than the city.)

In order from most important to least:
Canadian
British Columbian
North American
Vancouverite
Lower Mainlander

I find it odd that few of the American responders list ‘American’. Is this because you don’t identify as ‘American’ or is it that you are assuming that it’s so obvious that you’re leaving it out?

Canada
Atlantic Canada
New Brunswick
Moncton
Moncton North

I would say near the Tim Hortons but we have the highest number of Tims per capita. Everyone in town is near the Tim Hortons.

I’m on the border of pork roll and Taylor Ham. But I self identify as pork roll.

Cute.

Regions I identify as occupying, in order of decreasing importance:

Earth
New England
Greater Boston Area
United States

Planet Earth
North America
USA
Texas
Houston
Greater Heights Area

Another Clevelander, here, though I don’t self-identify my region as either “North Coast” (which I think of as specifically the culture/recreation area directly north of Downtown) nor as Western Reserve (I know the term and its history, but just don’t use it much myself).

In order of increasing size:
(Lakewood)
West Side
Inner Ring
Cleveland area
Northeast Ohio
(Ohio)
The Great Lakes
The Midwest
The North
(The US)
(North America)
The West
(Earth)
The Sol System
The Sirius Sector
The Orion Arm
(The Milky Way)
The Local Group
The Virgo Supercluster

(Items in parentheses I don’t consider to be “regions”, but I’m putting them in to show their place in the hierarchy)

For my childhood home, and where my mom still lives, add in “Detroit Shoreway” and “Near West Side” at the top of the list, and remove “Lakewood” and “Inner Ring”. Lakewood also has defined neighborhoods, and some of them like Birdtown have strong identities, but my neighborhood isn’t one of them.

Boston
Greater Boston area
Massachusetts
New England
US
Red Sox Nation

I decided to see what “regions of the USA” might return on Yahoo!

Good luck!

Virginia
Chesapeake Bay watershed
Northern Virginia
DC suburbs
Northern Fairfax County

Rocky Mountains because I’m in Colorado.
The Great Plains because I’m east of I-25
Pac-12 because I went to school at Washington and have always (except for 1 year) lived in a Pac-10-now-12 area. Seattle, LA, Phoenix/Tempe, NoCo/Boulder

Mid-Atlantic
DC Area
Northern Virginia
Tysons (i.e., the general Tysons Corner area)

“American” isn’t a region. (Nor is “America.”)

Midwest
Great Plains
Heartland
Missouri River Valley
Iowa
Loess Hills
Shelby County

If you’ve made it this far in the thread and would rather just vote for your region, go to USA Dopers: Which “region” is your current location?

Burlington County
South Jersey (southern New Jersey)
Delaware Valley (Philadelphia region)
Mid-Atlantic Region (states included vary, but NJ is in there)
Northeastern US
East Coast of US

I’m not even the only Iggy with those details. The better known Iggy has a house here too, though I doubt he’s a Doper in our sense of the word.
