Self reflection doesn't always have to hurt (an MMP Thread)

Get your Modesty Glasses here, $5.00!

wow, I am irritable today.

actually they are $6.00:cool:

Why pay retail?

Well, I would enjoy the show.

Avert your eyes, Gentlemen.
There are extremities visible.

So, for the second day in a row, three people are out sick from our ten person department. Nothing is getting done. Partly it’s the lack of techies, also there’s the end users who keep calling and asking “that complicated driver issue you said your senior techs were working with the manufacturer to resolve yesterday, you fixed that, right?”, and then techs in another department are hiding software that needs to be installed. Plus, we have 10+ people starting nearly every week, and for some reason the hiring managers are all “computer? What’s a computer? You mean my new person might need a computer? AND I need to tell you? AND I need to order one for them?”

Oy.

But bossman is ordering lunch for us. Yay.

Any elbows?

Fie, Sir!
You should have your Modesty Glasses stapled to your face.

They are now only $4.98, BTW.

Oh, no! Big Tex, the iconic animatronic giant at the Texas State Fair has burned down.

Poor guy. I always like seeing him. His arms are left, but everything else is down to bare steel.

Oh my Roo! Gotta admit I’d lurve to be there watchin’ him burn though. I mean, seventy feet tall and on fire! I hope he gets replaced cause, well, what’s a state fair without its seventy feet tall cowboy!

So we have mumper ladies paradin’ around in bathing suits while straight mumper men avert their eyes or wear special glasses that block out lady parts. I should go look outside becasue if that’s true then fluffy puppies, kitties and unicorns are dancin’ on a rainbow even as I post.

Oh and I’m at da cave. Just had enough. Ok, doin’ some irk from home but I am in shorts and a tshirt, so yay for that.

Now I need me a sammich and then back to paperirk, though not really paperirk as it’s all done online, but still, sorta kinda paperirk.

All I have had today is a glass of chocolate milk. Why am I not hungry? Is this is bad sign for my pregnancy? I worry about things like this. :frowning:

I wish to hell I could do that.

But somebody would break something.

I am eating left over kung poa chicken.
Strangely enough, Mrs. Plant v.3.0 didn’t seem to mind that I brought it to work…

I was irritable yesterday.

Today I am tired.

I tried to stay up to watch Mantracker.
Then I saw a spider by the window, so I itched, and itched and itched some more, because you know when you see a spider by the window there are 4 or 5 more in your bed.
My feet itched, my toes itched, my ankles itched, my fingers itched, that horrible itch that when you scratch you feel it somewhere else, then my nose itched, my head itched, and even my elbows itched.
Then I fell asleep and missed Mantracker.

Terry Grant is hot.
I hope you feel better.

Thanks sahi
Now I am itchy, LOL :stuck_out_tongue:

Me too, lmao!!

Well, it’s looking for sure that SOMETHING big will change here, pretty soon. Unless a miracle occurs and I’m hired back by the state, or get an offer some other permanent, full-time job that is above minimum wage, we’ll be packing up and moving…out. For sure, MrTao will stay with folks for about 6 months, which will help them out AND us out. If that happens, I am inclined to take up my dad’s offer to do the same with him, as I know I’d be working as soon as my boots hit the ground, there. Here…I give up. Not gonna happen. Gotta go where the money is, and for me, it’s not here.

And of course in today’s job section I see there’s interviews being scheduled for Alaska work, the same kind I’ve done 4 contracts with, but this time on solid ground, so no seasickness, yay! So I filled out the application for that and we’ll see if they think 46 is too old to do that shit anymore. For a lot of people it would be; for me, it’s easier to stand 12 hours than sit 12 hours, and I do think I would be just fine. With housing and food taken care of, I’d be sending at MINIMUM 2k home a month, free and clear. I would never be able to save that much working anywhere else, so it’s a definite temptation. And it did feel good talking about something I know I’m good at that makes money, yay! Yeah, it’s desperation time, lol. Pretty sure MrTao hates the idea, but hey, things have changed since the last time I did that kind of work. Even if cell reception sucks, it wouldn’t be 10 bucks a minute for a phone call, that’s for sure, so that right there is a big ups from 15 years ago.

In other news: Grapenuts for lunch! 'cause I really like grapenuts

You’re welcome.

The board does say to share!

You can have the grapenuts, I got a little bit of pulled pork barbeque in the fridge with some nice new rolls.

Mmm, that sounds good!
I’ve mixed breakfast with lunch, so after the grapenuts I finished off the shrimp noodle thingy I made the other night. Still very yummy, though I do need to learn how to cook rice noodles properly. I think last time I didn’t cook them enough, and this time I overcompensated by soaking and then, apparantly, cooking too long: they taste like water, lol. Otherwise, a very tasty dish

Home, and slightly confused. My sweetie and I drove separately today since he slept in. But he left before I did, and even tho I got caught in some nasty traffic, I’ve been home 15 minutes and he’s not here. I suppose I could call him… PS - called - he stopped to get the car washed.)

Project from the depths of Heck is done - at least Phase 1 is done and the completed drawings were delivered to the engineer this afternoon. Second, unrelated, project from the other side of Heck is now the hot ticket. I’d started on it a couple of weeks ago, then promptly forgot all about it. Today, I looked at it again, and it’s amazing how much I’ve learned in those couple of weeks - it’s gonna be a piece of cake, mostly.

Mega project potentially from the depths of the place worse than Heck is going to hit my fan in the coming months, but there’s really nothing I can do to prepare for it. I did ask if those who will be sending me notes can let me know ahead of time what connectors will be used so I can start building up my parts library - we’ll see how that goes.

But for now, it’s the weekend, and loverly weather is promised. I have the house open, and I may not have to close up for several days, so yay! Fresh air rocks!!

Good luck with the job, Tao! I know how much living apart sucks, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. **FCD **and I lived apart on 4 different occasions, ranging from a few months to 2 years. It wasn’t fun, but we survived.

And that’s all I’ve got for now.

<Points to username> How you doin’?
