Everything in its season, and all, and I bought it back in 2009 knowing someday I’d have to part with it, but…
I listed my Cobra for sale today. Not an original, but a works-built ERA 427SC with every detail and option the shop could put on it, and more that I added. It’s so close to an original that it won Best of Class against real ones, and once fooled one of ERA’s owners for a few moments - the guy who built it!
But with the divorce and need to streamline my life, it’s time to let go. I last drove it on Memorial Day, then let Nwlingland weather keep me out of it, then busted up my knee (making it very difficult to get in and dangerously hard to get out)… so I dusted it off and drove it for a long loop today. Got a nice beep-beep from a passing Carrera and was able to fire off my favorite situational joke - passing through a construction zone, I got to yell at the flagger, “BUT I DON’T DO ‘SLOW’!”
Hoping to sell it quick and local, otherwise will have to do the full detail, photo shoot and list it on the big board for such things.
And get in a few more drives with its lovely, almost deafening rumble drawing grins and waves and stares like an endless parade. It’s been fun.
I think (what I’ve seen) that you have been fair to you recent ex.
But, I’ll say it for all the car loving men on this board, if her actions led to this, then…
Don’t sell it. Store it in my garage (high, dry desert) till you get settled, then, if you really want to, sell it then. I’ll take good care of it, honest. I’ll even let it sit where the 740 usually sits (on the Oriental Rug).
The ignorant Shit-Head will then burn holes in the seats with his cigs, hit other cars while he’s bitching on his phone, take a saw to the dash so he can install Shithead-Satellite Radio, and then bitch to his juicing steroid-pals about how his old Camaro was better.
Sell it.
Don’t look back.
You honestly don’t want to know the unwashed fucker who buys it.
Awwwww, what a shame to have to let go of such a beauty. You would have been able to drive her most of the year in Denver, if you do decide to relocate here.
You think your sexism speaks for all the car-loving men on this board, are you nuts? (Women are known to love cars as well btw, I sure do.) The OP is *choosing *to streamline his life due to divorce, the reasons for which we don’t know from any perspective aside from his. If she were putting a gun to his head, be sure he would tell us she’s done so. This is his choice to make in a situation where his marriage did not work out, as many relationships do not work out.
Is yours the one at the link or is that an example? Is works-built a replica or kit car? Google and Jalopnik searches fail me.
Amateur Barbarian, the Marketplace is the only forum for soliciting buyers for items you have for sale. You can discuss your car and talk about your disappointment at selling it, but you can’t advertise the car or solicit buyers in this forum. But buy a membership and start a thread in the Marketplace if you’re trying to sell it here.
Everyone else, feel free to discuss anything pertaining to the OP, but no offers or discussion about actually buying the car. Thanks.
