It is never “entrapment” to present an opportunity for someone to commit a crime. Entrapment involves enticing someone who otherwise would not be predisposed to commit the crime to commit it.

Thus, if I’m running the same “gay sex in the airport bathroom” sting, and I come up to men in the bathroom and extol the virtues of gay sex, and encourage them to “give it a shot”, then arrest them when they consent to engage in it, that’s entrapment. But sitting in the stall waiting for the next person willing to proposition me is not.

Yeah, I guess so. Maybe what I was really getting at is that it seems a pointless way to police. Further still, as the offence also seems utterly ridiculous to me, I’ll butt out at this stage (pun most definitely intended)

My bolding. Poor choice of wording perhaps? If not, I think your prejudices are showing a little here.

I don’t think that it is prejudiced in any way to say that it is ordinary or “regular” behavior to be using a restroom for its intended purposes. It is unordinary, or “irregular” to be:

1. an undercover cop
   or
2. using a public restroom for anonymous sex

I was not making a statement about homosexuality either way…

What makes it insulting? I haven’t been propositioned by a homosexual in some time, but as I recall “Thanks, but no thanks” worked fine. Are you offended by the fact that someone finds you sexually desireable? Maybe I have too much self esteem, but I think everyone finds me sexually desireable, even with considerable evidence to the contrary.
