Senate Acquits Trump, 53-47! [satire]

Projammer, Thats some situational ethics right there:p

Senators can’t be held responsible for their official acts in any place except the Senate (or, implicitly, the voting booth), and the only real punishment (expulsion) would require a 2/3 vote.

And Joe Biden isn’t even the Democratic nominee yet, and yet…

Let’s also remember that the Republicans deliberately carried out an agenda of obstruction of Obama from literally the first day of his administration, up to and including blocking their own bills and nominees if Obama agreed with them. Several of the Tea Party types campaigned on the “I’m going to impeach Obama!” message but, strangely, they somehow never found anything impeachable to act on. It’s almost as if Republicans, faced with an inability to defend their destruction of the institutions of American democracy, law and government, are left only with feeble attempts to claim that Democrats are “just as bad”.

But let’s be fair: there were definitely people calling for Trump’s impeachment before he even took office. I certainly can’t deny that.

Exactly. The two-faced lying motherfuckers.

Republicans have more projection than a multi-plex theater.

Don’t worry, Republicans are doing there best voir dire on this jury pool to make sure that they get a jury that is likely to decide they way they want.

‘Take her out’: Recording appears to capture Trump talking about firing ambassador

A recording reviewed by ABC News appears to capture President Donald Trump telling associates he wanted the then U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch fired — and speaking at a small gathering that included Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman — two former business associates of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani who have since been indicted in New York.

The recording appears to contradict statements by President Trump and support the narrative that has been offered by Parnas during broadcast interviews in recent days. Sources familiar with the recording said the recording was made during an intimate April 30, 2018 dinner at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

“Get rid of her!” is what the voice that appears to be President Trump’s is heard saying. “Get her out tomorrow. I don’t care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. Okay? Do it.”

The recording was made by Fruman, according to sources familiar with the tape. The White House did not respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
During the conversation, several of the participants can be heard laughing with the President. At another point, the recording appears to capture Trump praising his new choice of Secretary of State, saying emphatically: “Pompeo is the best.” But the most striking moment comes when Parnas and the President discuss the dismissal of his ambassador to Ukraine.
Parnas appears to say: "The biggest problem there, I think where we need to start is we gotta get rid of the ambassador.

In a recent interview with MSNBC, Parnas publicly recounted his memories of the scene at the dinner and said that Trump turned to John [DeStefano], who was his deputy chief of staff at the time, and said ‘Fire her,’ he claimed.

Everyone is interpreting this to be Trump ordering Yovanovitch fired. But, that misses two points: 1). Who uses “take her out” to mean “fire her”? Especially from the guy whose catch phrase is literally “You’re fired.” 2). Why would he be ordering those people in the room to fire her when those people have exactly zero role in her employment in the first place? Those people can’t fire her, so why tell them to fire her.

Because, other than on his TV show, he famously never personally fired someone - always sending a hatchet man to do the deed.

Given Trump’s love of mob speech (see “the perfect call”), that would be a more generous interpretation of those statements.

The Hell else does “take her out” mean, kill her?

Go out on a date with her.
-First base if humanly possible.

Never forget what a kind person Mr. Trump is.

And there’s no explanation about why Lev Parnas and Robert Hyde would have people trailing Yovanovitch, be discussing her security coverage, and be negotiating with some Ukrainians if their plan was to fire her.

Well, why not? It works for Dear Leader.

Hope springs eternal.

Far be it for me to defend Romney but he’s been critical of Trump and the Republican handling of the process all along. He hasn’t stood out in front of the Capitol and banged a drum or anything, but neither has he been parroting the rah-rah Republican lies. So, good for Mitt. He’s still a money-grubbing jerk, but he apparently has a line he won’t cross.

Well, this has only done Trump good as it turns out. Now he’s got that Jesse James effect, the charismatic outlaw. He can openly proclaim they tried to remove him for bucking the system, and get cheered like a hero. Trump’s incessant lies and boasts work, as long as Repubs have a majority. He’s got nothing holding him back now. Nobody can stop him.

Hey Susan Collins!

It looks like everyone learned their lesson and they’re going to stop cheating.

Just kidding - they’re set to ramp up the investigations into the Bidens.

They will announce such investigations. Total bluff.
