Story here. I don’t know much about Dodd. Is he electable? Would he make a good POTUS?
As a Nutmegger I can say with a fair degree of certainty that he doesn’t have snowball’s chance in hell in making it…Most likely he’s posturing for a VP spot…
All Joe Six-Pack needs to see is that “CT” after the D and he’ll vote against him. How he stands on anything is irrelevant. Senators can’t get elected, especially New England Democrats.
I found out Dodd was running aftter Obama was asked to comment on Dodd’s decision.
Telling.
If Imus is the best place you can find to announce your candidacy - are you really ever in the running?
I think he’s just doing it for th national exposure, no one thinks Dodd has a shot.
Waste of his time, and the money that will be invested in him. Probably hopes to become someone’s VP, though not sure what makes him think someone wants to try and lock up Connecticut for the Dems…
Heck, I’ve lived in Connecticut for five years and all I know about the guy is that he has a thick head of white hair.
He’s the “other” senator from Connecticut.
Well, the state displayed a dangerously rebellious streak by voting for Bush’s best buddy – a shout out in the speech last night – that wacky independent Liberman.
Lieberman is a Democrat who is centrist. He’s still a Democrat, and you are not going to see Conn. go Republican pretty much no matter WHO it is gets the nod from the Dems in 2008.
The more the better at this point.
I’m so sick of hearing we have to choose between Hillary (whom I’d vote for as president but wouldn’t want to see as a candidate because she has too much baggage) and Obama, who people seem to like because he’s a new name and nothing more.
No reason to chose inexperience just to avoid someone who already has adversaries.
We need this step of bringing in more real candidates with established credentials in national affairs.
We must raise the discussion away from the sound bites that our celebrity-obsessed media tries to yoke us with.
I like Obama because of his podcasts, which impressed the heck out of me.
I like his charisma, I like his educational background. We need a constitutional law professor in the White House after what Bush has done to the government.
Frankly, I think we need a Kennedy again. A new generation of younger bums, with some idealism, and a bit of multiculturalism.
Remember how Lieberman ran for president in 2004? Remember how well that worked for him? Dodd will meet the same fate.
My first thought: “Well, that’s a waste of a lot of perfectly good money.”
