Mr. Toricelli,
Admonishment? Beam me up! The hypocrisy that continues to come wafting out of that sludge hole on the east end of the mall both disgusts and aggravates me.
Let’s see,
After serving in (and being called in front of the ethics committee of) the House of Representatives, you become a Senator from NJ. In your 1st term in that esteemed institution of debate working mainly as a professional fund-raiser you get caught taking gifts such as clothing, electronics and furnishings from a fat cat Democrat who needed some favors done.
When the story first breaks you rant and rave about a smear job and call your accusers liars. Several members of your staff are found guilty. The briber in question, Mr. Chang gets sentenced. You, with probably some assistance from political operatives in the DOJ, aren’t even brought to trial.
Your buddies, behind the closed doors of the Senate ethics committee, come up with this kangaroo-court type admonishment. Titter, titter Bobby. Don’t you know you’re supposed to take your bribes in the form of cash or junkets? We’ll let it slide this time being that you’re kind of new to this body.
I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit.
Here’s my admonishment to you, something I’ll tell you right to your face when I see you in that luxury box at the Meadowlands this September:
You’re a liar and a thief. Worse than Van Kill River sludge. Your disgusting denial and craftily worded apology a year later show you for what you really are. You don’t deserve a single vote this November. It’s too late for a primary challenge so I guess the people of the Garden State are stuck with you on the ballot. Why not do the decent thing and drop out of the race?
Either that or maybe you or one of your pied-piperette supporters could explain this to me:
A crime known as bribery was committed. In order for a bribe to exist, there has to be a payer and a payee. The payer in your case is behind bars.
You, on the other hand as the admitted payee, got a “Too powerful & Too Connected For Equal Justice Pass” and walked away with proverbial smack on the wrist. Why is one participant in this crime locked-up and the more disgusting participant in the same act still seated in the Senate?
Now matter how you slice it, that my friend is a prime example of unequal justice.
