I love the SDMB. After 8 years of trolling, Liberaltarian still gets fed.

It’s just one of those things - like how it always takes a new outrage for people to look at Bricker and say, “Wow, other people have said it for a long time, but you really are a scary sack of shit.”

Two weeks of not being fed, liberaltarian will go away.

The governor will appoint a replacement until the election next year. And there’s nothing special about it other than an extra name on the ballot in an election that would have been held anyway.

Judge: Special election should be within 90 days

A Hinds County Circuit judge ruled today that Gov. Haley Barbour exceeded his constitutional authority by setting the special election to replace former U.S. Sen. Trent Lott for November.

DeLaughter heard about an hour of arguments Monday in the dispute between state Attorney General Jim Hood and Barbour.

His ruling came after 5 p.m.

DeLaughter voided Barbour’s proclamation that scheduled the election for Nov. 4, 2008.

In his order, DeLaughter said the election should be held "within 90 days of the governor’s Dec. 20, 2007 proclamation of writ of election…on or before March 19, 2008.

So Lott’s shenanagins will cost the taxpayers, but at least they’ll get the elected representation that is their right.
