I know that I have heard of a service that will, for a price, take your luggage to places like Nepal, the Congo, etc., beat it up some to make it look used, and then bring it back to you.
Has anyone else heard of this, and can someone provide a url for the company? (I tried a Google search with some relevant parameters, but it only returned legit travel sites.)
I personally think it’s a daft idea, and fail to see the attraction, but I can’t even convince my co-workers that it’s a real thing. I’d like a web-site I can point them to.
My sister-in-law has very well-traveled luggage. Almost every time she flies, whether within the continental US or to Europe, her bags go somewhere else.
It’s really wierd, because she double-checks the tags, etc. Last time she went to Helsinki, her bags made a side trip to the Bahamas on the way home.
I guess they were tired of snow & wanted to come home with a tan.
G: I want you to send this suitcase to Pittsburg, this one to Ottawa, and my garment bag to Tampa Bay.
A: I’m sorry sir, we can’t do that.
G: Why not? You did it last time I flew your airline.
Many years ago I read a little blurb in Outside magazine about a company that would take your gear (backpacks, parkas, etc) on trips with them to exotic places and send you back detailed descriptions of where they went and what they did, with photos. At first they were very careful with the gear, but their customers told them they wanted the stuff to look like it was really used. They started treating the gear like crap and everyone was happy.
A ha! That’s exactly what I was thinking of. What I was hoping to learn here was the name of the organization, or a web-site for it, or some proof that I could present to my skeptical co-workers.
well if you are not on the airplane , and your luggage is onboard they by international law have to remove it , bomb and stuff paranoia , and hey taking somebody elses bag you did not pack yourself is kind of iffy on the law side of things.
heh but then my sister has been “borrowing my trunk for the past 2 years for her world trip thing”
…there used to be a place you could send your Furby to camp. They would take pictures of it socializing with other Furbys, camping, lounging by the pool, etc. They had a website that was pretty funny, but I can’t find it right now.
