Separating co-conspirators while in prison

Specifically regarding those convicted of seditious conspiracy for January 6, but also more generally: Can co-conspirators be confined in such a way that they are separated from each other (different prisons) and prevented from communicating with each other? Especially when at sentencing they assert that they plan to continue their conspiracy while in prison?

Based on my experience with the WI Dept. of Corrections, our system generally kept different inmates well separated if there were concerns about housing them in the same prison. I expect the Federal Bureau of Prisons can do the same thing.

Vincent Bugliosi had this problem with prosecuting the various members of the Manson Family. A couple of friends of Charlie were able to “persuade” another inmate in prison to change her story between the grand jury and the trial.

Bugliosi had all sorts of stuff happen that wasn’t supposed to happen in the investigation, handling and prosecution of the case. E.g., he would specfically ask some sheriff dept. people to follow a lead and they … just didn’t. He could have zeroed in on Manson very quickly if they had.

The above was yet another of those type of things…
