Why is McCain using a “teacher voice”?
This was mentioned during the earmark free-for-all, which, in my opinion, Obama lost.
Yeah, McCain is coming off reasonably well.
AGAIN, don’t lynch me, I’m voting Obama . But he’s not coming off stupid on the issues, which Bush did, in every debate. He has a POV that’s against the slant of the board, but he’s not coming off obnoxiously dumb, the way Bush or Palin do.
What scares me about the McCain-Palin is not the McCain part of the ticket, and it never has.
Except his healthcare plan. Because that’s just plumb scary.
just waiting to be snapped at
No but he should have hit this one outta the park. Just getting by wasn’t good enough for him. Now granted, this wasn’t the total foreign policy debate it was supposed to be. But with the economy being what it is, he should have been better prepared. If they both did “okay” that means Obama won IMHO.
Then again both are for the bailout, so both are wrong.
SDI was one of the things that caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. They tried to keep up and spent their way into oblivion, while we barely noticed the cost of it. Gorbachev was forced to negotiate with the US and this in turn weakened the Soviet Union’s influence when emboldened other countries to break away. When that happened it was all over.
So yeah, in a sense they are directly related.
I’d call this a draw, with maybe a slight edge to McCain. Neither candidate stumbled badly but neither scored what I would call a knock-out punch. That said, I feel McCain came across just a bit more in control of the facts; not so much because he had a masterful command, but rather because Obama just appeared to be on defense too much of the time.
Obama needs to stop giving McCain credit. Fuck McCain, he can’t even look at you!
"We can’t bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don’t go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for m’shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt. Which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you’d say. Now where was I… oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn’t get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones… "
I said it before, but taking a shot each time Obama says, “Senator McCain is absolutely right” would leave you fairly legless.
So make take is that the nation’s vets can crash at John’s houses.
Holy fuck the reality distortion is decompressing my mind.
Obama smiling at McCain saying he doesn’t have knowlege, experience.
Unfortunately that’s what happens when you’re not willing to lie out your ass.
Meh, both of them missed the big one in “defending the US.”
Alleviate suffering in problem areas and you won’t have terrorists. That’s the only fail-proof method.
And Obama is coming off rather poor in essentially saying that we “need to spend more money on X” for every single item. When the economy is in the tank, coming on and saying we need to spend more on getting rid of nuclear waste, we need to spend more on protecting the borders, spend more on so on and so forth, that sounds like he’s holding to his preconceived plan instead of adapting it to the realities of the current situation of the US.
I think newcomers to Obama will be more impressed with his performance than McCain supporters will be with his. McCain did okay, but I think his supporters expected him to knock it out of the park, and he’s not doing that.
McCain loves the veterans and wants to take care of them.
Not creepy at all.
McPalin is doing better than I thought. I only have caught the last 30 minutes or so. McPalin is dinging between folksy and patronizing as hell. His tie is horrible.
Obama is being way too patient and too nice. Foreign policy is his weakest area.
Please, please, Obama, meet his flimflam of how he (McCain) loves those vets with his voting down the benefits. Dammit. He didn’t.
Okay, who has “the surge” as their drinking cue? 'Cuz you gots ta be hammered after that last splutterfest!
Ah, there’s the POW line.
McCain is sounding like all of my customers from Senior Tuesdays.
