Although never a huge fan, I have watched many, if not most, of the episodes over the past five years. The show has been canceled, but as per this Hollywood Reporter article, this series finale tonight is a “real” series finale, and not just some random episode.
Just a heads up, should anyone wish to see how this series ends - I am sure it will be repeated a couple times this week, but tonight (December 25th) is the final show.
i was an extra on the episode about the culinary school. i saw my back for about .25 seconds on a security cam footage part in the episode. i had never watched the show before. it was awful!
It was a decent series finale - wrapped it up fairly well and was one of their more elaborate cons. Yes, they could have gone on for another season after this - but I can see how they can also be happy with wrapping it up as they did.
There were a couple of nice call-backs to the earliest episodes: Parker shamelessly disrobing in front of Eliot and Hardison, Sophie’s awful Lady Macbeth (her “good” Lady Macbeth didn’t look that great to me, but it was a definite improvement). Also the revelation (or not) of Sophie’s real name was handled nicely.
Also the shot of the five of them overhead, only this time they didn’t all split off. This season was pretty disappointing (I think they lot a little too serious for itself), but it’s always been cheesy fun. Good send-off though.
Yes–a long, long time ago I read on John Rogers’s blog (gotta love the way he responded to fans) that that particular shot was reserved to be used only in a very specific situation. I figured it’d be the series finale.
Even though it was Hustle’s poorer cousin, I liked it, especially when they broke from the formula. But I agree that the last season was a little too serious and the humour was often forgotten.
I’ve only seen the show a couple times, but it was always interesting to see Gina Bellman in something besides Coupling. I had such a dislike of her character in that that some of it rubbed off on her. (The episode where she has the sock puppet on her hand is brilliant, though.) It’s refreshing to see that she really was acting.
Parker has always been my favorite, but this season, she was stunningly beautiful. No longer the tomboy waif, she just radiated pure hotness. Eclipsed Sophie by a mile.
Don’t think so, but it did leave me wondering what the hell they would’ve done if they’d been picked up for a sixth season. o.O
Hope to see Hodge again soon–he’s been brilliant since episode one. Age of the Geek, baby. And I’ll have to figure out some way to get my Tim Hutton fix. Maybe it’s time to finally break down and buy the Nero Wolfe Mysteries DVDs…
