Series of photos of Mt St Helens exploding/erupting in background with people in foreground

Okay, librarian to the rescue. This was a bitch to scan because the binding is very stiff. I had to do two scans to get the whole page for some reason and I didn’t bother to crop. I think this is the photo page you’re thinking of:
One
and Two.

The article with the photographer under his car is separate and does not have as far as I could tell any pictures taken by him during the eruption.

Awesome, thanks! Did you see the other series of photos with people posing in the foreground?

It looks as though those pictures did not survive. From the article linked to by Duckster:

Maybe I’m confusing Story X with Story Y and ended up with a hybrid story in my mind. The sequence of 4-5 pics (still shots) showed a greyish puffy cloud of volcanic ash going up in the air, then coming close, then coming WAY close then coming OMFG THAT’s LIKE FEET AWAY close. Lots of ash cloud detail. I sure thought the photographer had not survived but his pix had.

There is a photographer who did surive (don’t recall his name), but he took a series of photos of the expanding ash cloud. Then he realized his life was in danger, hopped in his truck–and took one last shot over his shoulder of the oncoming cloud. I saw him on tv in the past couple of days talking about it.

Okay, I uploaded the photos.

Hope I’m not violating copyrights or anything.

Let me know if the link works.
