–must be a good(?) week for losing family members. My last uncle on my mother’s side died today, and it turns out that he and his late wife weren’t much for oral history or record keeping. I offered to try to find out something about his military service because at one time I had a link that had bare bones (basically just dates) of things like that. I used it to look up some other family members, so I know it exists. I recall it wasn’t an official gov’t thing, and it broke things down by states, but that’s about it. I’m not looking for chapter and verse here, just something for the obit. We know he served in the Korean War, and that’s about it. The gov’t would be glad to help for $18 and a six month wait, but that’s obviously not practical. Any suggestions?
