Hi my wife got a present from a friend. The friend says it is “real” but when I showed a pawn-broker that specialised in jewelry they said it was plastic but the metal was silver. The large stone hardly sparkles at all so to me it seems to be plastic rather than glass or a gemstone. It is light pink. I wonder if “servon” is a brand or some type of material. Note that the name might have been misheard.
Its a bit of a stretch but maybe the original intent was to say Resin; its plastic and fake gemstones are made of it.
Yeah. “Resin” is the current marketing-speak for “plastic.” You see the term a lot in collectible statuetttes and other overpriced crap sold to the glitter-loving gullible
Note that some plastic jewelry is very collectable.
Also, plastic/resin jewellery is not necessarily all completely nasty.
Possibly, but that link isn’t very convincing proof, IMO - it may just be the geologist in me talking, but tackily-dyed disco-coloured bits of heather stem set in perspex do not “gems” make, to my mind.
Especially if cut into the shape of a Scottie…
