Like any reasonable adult could argue that the “hidden” gag in Special Letters Unit was intended for kids.

I can’t remember where i heard it, but I once heard the character of Roosevelt Franklin was dropped because he was I guess an insult to minorities

Specifically that he was a disruptive rebel against The System. And Black. Which, if you think about it, a black character openly and successfully bucking the system is what America is (or was before we all got sensitive) all about.

Maybe he was eliminated to heed the “NO FREE THINKING” laws.
