Ok, now here’s a real challenge. Do any SDopers remember the Sesame Street characters appearing on Lawrence Welk, the musical show with the orchestra playing in all the bubbles? (What was the deal with that show, anyhow? Obviously, I was too young to know!)
Don’t remember any Muppets, but Lawrence Welk existed so that folks of a certain age could pretend they were out drinking champagne and eating lobster at a fancy supper club, while they were actually drinking Ovaltine and eating Swanson’s Swiss Steak in front of the TV.
