Sesame Street: Who's the little blond muppet girl?

I know most of the names of the muppets on Sesame Street, but there’s one I’ve never heard - there’s a little blond girl muppet ( not a monster type muppet) - blond hair, wears a simple dress, white socks and mary jane shoes).

She tends to be the voice of reason, and often explains things to Big Bird and Telly.

Does she have a name?

That’d be precocious lil’ Prairie Dawn.

I’m shocked you don’t know Prairie Dawn. :frowning: She’s a favorite of mine. I miss her playing the piano and welcoming the viewer to “our little play.” They need to do those again.

I imagine this is an age thing. She was a major character when I was a child but she hardly appeared at all in the 90’s and it’s only been in the last five years or so they have dusted her off and started using her a few times a season.

Stupid Fairies stealing the limelight. grumble grumble.

A Prairie Dawn narrated play

Man, I always thought Prairie had light brown hair.

When I first saw the OP, I had Betty Lou in mind, who was basically Prairie Dawn with blonder hair in ponytails.

I haven’t seen her in ages, though.

Yeah, she’s HOT!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Well, you see, I’m mumble, mumble old, and when Sesame started I thought it was bit juvenile, so I’m not up on all of the characters.

I’m having to do a fast catch-up in light of the PiperCub’s increasing fascination with it, and his insistance on pointing at Prairie Dawn in his Sesame books and saying “who dat?”

Daddy needs to be answer these fundamental questions to maintain his pretense of omniscience.

On Sprout at 11am, they air a show called “Play with me Sesame” that features Prairie Dawn, Ernie, Bert, and Grover. I don’t mind Elmo and Zoe and Abby and celebrity guests and the general craziness of Sesame Street, but it’s refreshing with PWMS because of its simplicity and so much Prairie Dawn. I can’t remember the last time she was on SS at all.

Zoe and Abby are fine, but Prairie isn’t about tutus and pink and cutesy. I think a tough, smart little girl role model is a good thing too.

I’m boycotting Sesame Street until they bring Herbert Birdsfoot back.

Herbert Birdsfoot was awesome! And so was Don Music! I don’t care if kids were banging their heads on pianos and getting hurt, the world needs humor!

And Roosevelt Franklin. *And *his mom.
