After 1 million computational years, SETI@home gets the chance to go to Arecibo and deeply search the 150 most likely candidates for intelligent life.
“I give it a one in 10,000 chance that one of our candidate signals turns out to be from ET,” said Werthimer, who will head for Puerto Rico on March 16.
1 in 10,000 eh? Even considering he pulled those numbers completely out of his left ass, I still like those odds.
But the real news is this: those 150 candidates went through SETI@home members who processed and rechecked the original findings. Those members will be on a list on the front page. Who will they be? Will YOUR name be up in lights under the title “SUPASTAR!”
