So i got IIS installed and set up my virtual directory to share but my problem is making the logins work. I just can’t do it. I go to the FTP properties box and under the Security Tab there is a check box for “Allow Anonymous Connections”. Under that there is a space for putting in Username and Password. When I create a password and hit apply, the 5-asterisk password becomes 10-asterisks long!!
Does anyone have experience doing this?
The number of asterisks displayed after the password is entered isn’t always the same as the number you actually put in. While I don’t know if IIS specifically does this, I’ve seen other programs do it.
Have you actually tried logging into the server with the 5-digit password? What happens when you assign a 10-digit password and try to log in?
Also, what’s your FTP for? That is, is it neccessary to use IIS? IIS is legendary for its recurring security holes. Plus, you can find tons of freeware FTP servers that are very easy to set up and use. Last time I tried one of those, I was successfully serving up a file within ten minutes of downloading the program.
I’ve tried logging in with the names and passwords I create but can’t get it. I reckon I’ll try a different FTP program.
