Sex and the City on Mars

Zach Weinersmith (author of webcomic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) and his wife Kelly (biologist at Rice University) have written a book called A City on Mars. The New York Times published an opinion piece based on this book. The latest SMBC strip supposedly has a link to this article, but it doesn’t go there right now. No problem, there’s other ways to get there. (gift link)

I have not gotten my copy of the book yet, although I’m eagerly awaiting it.

I’m confused. Is it “Sex, and The City on Mars” or “Sex and the City, on Mars”?

Why yes, yes it is.

As for the book, I’ve gotten a notice that it’s on the way. Has not arrived yet.

So … you don’t know either? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’m not saying.

The book A City on Mars came some time after I posted upthread. It came in a relatively thin cardboard (recyclable) envelope with no plastic in the packaging. Very good.

I’m now near the beginning of Chapter 3 which is about the “orientationless mambo” (sex in space; ducks while everyone runs out and gets the book). BTW, it also covers when pigs fly (dead pigs on the Vomit Comet used as practice for microgravity surgery; oops, everyone changes their mind about buying it).

Anyone who’s at all interested in space should get this book. If you’re a space junkie, it probably won’t tell you much you haven’t already heard before, but read it anyway. It’s good.

Just finished reading A City on Mars. I don’t really have much to add to the above, except to note the last line of the Acknowledgments:

BTW, here’s Phil’s review of the book:
