Well does she know his name?
My feeling is that this isn’t the kind of thing where you send him a bill in the mail for half of it, and she’s unlikely to get any $ out of it. But it might me a chance to help her decide what kind of guy he is and whether there’s any reason to pursue the relationship.
Rather than getting an estimate first, I think she ought to just tell him what happened, mention that she wants to get it fixed, and does he have any suggestions.
If he starts backpedaling immediately, its a no go.
If he makes some suggestions about looking at it or has some suggestions about where to go to get it fixed, then he might be worth another date.
That would be a good time to ask him about splitting the costs and suggesting that the next crash between them probably wouldn’t run up such high costs, unless he forgets his condoms. That would at least keep him potentially interested enough that he would be more likely to help out (financially), even if he isn’t quite ‘second date’ material.
(warning: this is advice for a woman, written by a guy, and thus may have no basis in reality. Your mileage may vary; hers, too, especially if the dent is rubbing agains the rear wheel.)
Hell, for all we know, this guy could have a mechanic friend who would be willing to knock the dent out for free. Couldn’t hurt for her to at least tell the guy about it.
Oh she should definately tell him - if for no other reason than comical effect!
sweet…if it’s on the quater you may be able to go in through the trunk and use a body hammer(isn’t rubber but has a circle shaped head the size of a half dollar and flat) bang it out carefully…maybe bang is the wrong word seeing as that is how she got the dent anyhow…
This is the most amusing freudian slip I’ve seen in a while. I couldn’t help pointing it out.
I hadn’t even caught that. Good one!
Easy dinging is why I moved to a truck…
Personally I would pay half as well if I got to be there when she expalins it to the guy… or the guy at the repair shop…
