SF magazines in my attic!

Well, one does have to work, you know.

I threw them in a large tin and wood trunk at the moment to protect them from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. I’ll be reading them over in the near future.

Whee!

I’m thinkin’ you MUST love the guy. It’s GOT to be love.

Because it wasn’t homicide on the spot.

Ummmm…Weird Tales has gone in & out of print several times over the decades.

Any copies of the 70’s era incarnation?

Jonathon, do you need a cook/housekeeper? I can give references! From Dopers even!

All I ask(digs toe in ground and looks sheepish) is to be able to read those magazines when you are done with them.

Assuming this husband of yours is a male… he threw away PORN?! I know this is a gross over generalization (I being a hetero male who doesn’t like the stuff me self) but why would he do that?! Especially the years! Wasn’t he growing up in or around the '70s? Nostalgia and all of that involved. Just wondering…

Come to the party in August! I’ll let you sit in a corner with your own bowl of dip and read them!

I’m getting my revenge, somewhat. I’m making him buy me a used bookstore. I told him that he has his farm, now I want my bookstore. I figure that every so often, I’ll just casually mention how much we sold a similar item for. I plan on making him wince and shudder at least every other week.

It’s not the monetary value of the books and magazines that really upset me, though. My maternal grandfather was a hateful old man, and the only good memories I have of him are the times when we’d discuss this or that story. And there were lots of great books and magazines that I hadn’t even read yet, I was carefully rationing them out to myself. Grrrrr!

What pary, where do you live, and what can I bring? Cookies, pies? I bake a mean cinnamon roll!

This party…here.

Marietta, OH, August 21. Meet some Dopers!

All are invited!

Hey, Jonathan!

How’d this work out?

Gay? I wish it were that simple!

Earlier. I got Omnivore when I belonged to the Science Fiction Book Club circa 1968.

Anthony’s first published story appeared in the April 1963 issue of Fantastic.

His first novel, Chthon, appeared in 1967. So did his second.

He won the F&SF (and Doubleday?) first novel contest for SOS the Rope, which got printed in F&SF. However the copyright date on it is 1968 - so I guess when he won he had sold another novel, but was not officially published.

Was your Galaxy story “Alien Pursuasion” by any chance? I looked through my 1975 Galaxies, and that seemed the most likely suspect.

Why the “Ummmm”?

How fortunate.

What was the exact address again?

And didn’t you mean to post something about how hard it would be to maintain after-dark security at entry points X, Y and Z?

No. I wouldn’t have allowed a story with a misspelled title to be published.

The worst thing is that with launching my own business over the last year I’ve barely had time to read them. They’re just sitting there in that trunk…alone…in the dark…

Waiting.

If there is ANY Frank Herbert in ANY of those issues, I would gladly take them off your hands for a reasonable price. Or even an unreasonable price. My email is in my profile.

P.S. Lynn, your first post made my heart literally hurt and the air go out of my lungs. And I thought, if I were her, after I finished crying hysterically, then I’d make him spend a LOT of money on something I really love. Then I saw that that is exactly what you’re doing. You go girl!

Somehow I have to eventually borrow the ones with Heinlein. Maybe we can work out some sort deal where I pay shipping both ways and guarantee them in advance.
Nice treasure trove.

The possibility of insights from the GrandMaster that I have never seen before. Wow.

I have Piers first Novel somewhere it was from close to 1970.
