Shadowrun campaign, comments and OOC discussion!

My enthusiasm’s pretty much run out, after sitting around for a month without my character having a single thing to do, so I think I’ma bow out at the next logical point.

Thanks for giving it a shot. If you want to retire Kirk, the game thread has an opportunity now. You don’t need to do anything in particular. I’ll leave it open-ended in case you have a change of heart.

Sorry I couldn’t give you a better game, Omi. Thanks again.

That sounds fine, and thanks for the game! It was fun ^^

That’s a shame. You have been really fun to play with. You role-play very well. I’m sad to hear you haven’t been enjoying playing your character. At least from Nail’s POV, you have been doing lots of stuff: scouting reports, research, drone and net fighting, surveillance Heck, if it wasn’t for you, Nail would have lost the guy he was tailing. Still, I can see where you are coming from.

Hope to game with you again in the future.

Sorry to see you go, Omi.

Best line of the game.

Heh, thanks.

Just a quick update to the game;

This mission is coming to an end. One way or another, the contract with Synthcorp will end after the next scene. After that, players will be awarded Karma based on the quality of their roleplaying, and will be given a chance to spend their Karma improving their character. At that time, players are free to take a break from the game for a few days, or roleplay via PM with me, to simulate the characters being apart from each other for awhile.

When we start up the next run, player Omi no Kami will be replaced by AClockworkMelon. Melon will have a brand new character for you guys to meet. Kirk’s fate is still unknown, but it’s almost certain you haven’t seen the last of her yet.

Happy running!

The team’s first run is complete! Everything went pear-shaped toward the end, but all in all it was a wild and fun ride. It’s a pleasure playing with you guys.

One thing I’m concerned about is keeping things fresh and exciting for you guys. I would appreciate feedback from players (or spectators!) about what works, what doesn’t, and how I can do things better. If you’d feel more comfortable sending criticism via pm, I’d be happy to read it.

Also, feel free to discuss the previous run OOC here. Personally, the two high points for me were the train roof battle, and Donovan’s unexpected murder. I honestly didn’t know whether Goethe was going to rescue Chaggo or let him die, and it seemed like Goethe himself was conflicted about it. That was some great RPing!

Everything was great, and believe me, I would critique if it was needed.

Seneth plans to continue with the team and I don’t even need a week, but understand the need for a break.

By the way, Mosier, you should request permission to start another thread when the second run begins. I think we can easily lock that thread, let it go, and have a nice new one for the second run.

Why would he have to ask permission?

Don’t ask me. This all goes back to when I got a friendly advice PM from a Game Room mod about asking for permission to start multiple threads for the same mafia game(it was the unspoiled thread). Besides, he could also ask for the original one to be locked.

Or not. Go ahead and make another one, if you think it’s cool.

Thanks. And I must say Arry dying was a very surprising and cool event. At first I thought you had it planned all along (since you had hinted during setup that the person playing the corp would have some special considerations built into their character). However, when you described how you were going to resolve the surprise attack, I realized that Jules had thrown you for a loop as well.

I just have to know as a player, how much of the end was actually planned by you, and what was Jules/Donovan’s own driving of the plot. I assume Donovan wanted to take out Johnson the whole time and that’s why he joined with us to begin with. But was Donovan trying to keep Chaggo alive all along, or was that how Jules chose to play it?

And I have no complaints, like Mahaloth, I would bring up any concerns if/when I have them.

And expect a wrap up post from Goethe in the IC thread in a day or two. It’ll describe his somewhat battered (since he’s still 4 physical down, and his damage compensator only removes 3 of that, so he’s definitely feeling his chest injury) return to his condo and the typical routine he’ll go through when returning from runs. Assuming there are no surprises waiting for him, it’ll be a pretty straightforward post. If there are going to be any surprises, you can PM me and I’ll work them in. But in a nutshell he’s going to talk to the security guard at the front desk about if any strange people have signed in and not left yet. And then he’ll link to his own security system to make sure no one’s broken in. And even once he enters the door, he’ll give an adequate once-over of the condo itself to make sure nothing seems out of place. And then he’ll follow it up with a glass of scotch or similar and reflect.

You players are definitely the primary plot drivers. I’m trying my best to keep a mostly “hands off” approach when it comes to developing the plot. Instead, I’m trying just to provide a setting, while you guys move the story. My NPCs have agendas, just like the players. Sometimes the NPCs get foiled, like poor Arry. Sometimes they get lucky, like Chaggo (who I was pretty sure would get roasted this run, but I guess that shows how much I know). The players are also successful advancing their own agenda to varying degrees, which brings me to my next point -

Donovan obviously has a hidden agenda, but exactly to what extent that agenda was satisfied I’ll leave up to Jules to decide whether to divulge, if he chooses. Part of the fun is watching how the players struggle to justify their players’ actions, like with the bitterness Nail and Goethe are feeling from an abandoned contract, or Seneth’s confusion about his mentor spirit abandoning him, or how Donovan uses people like pawns. I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to play with!

Sorry for the slowish posting lately. Dealing with a stuffy nosed and minor-fever having kid past few days.

Also, as you may have noticed, Jules Andre is no longer running with us. I like the 4 player dynamic, and will likely not replace him until after this run at the earliest. In the meantime, Donovan will be an NPC and stay active in this run.

See you in the game thread!

Happy birthday to me! My gift? The flu.

I know I left you with a bit of a cliffhanger, but it’ll be tomorrow at least before I have the patience and energy to post the call from Synthcorp. Sorry again, folks. See you back in the game soon.

As you can see, you’re now Running with a character who, to put it mildly, places a lower value on human life than the rest of you. The most recent game post is about as gory as I’m willing to describe 4509’s casual murder, but if my narration offended anyone please send me a PM and I will tone it down in the future.

This is not meant to discourage any players from playing the type of character they want to play. I won’t stop 4509 from killing anyone who gets in his way, any more than I’d stop Nail from cheating at cards. (We all know you do. Nobody’s that lucky!) I personally have no reservations about fantasy roleplay murder, but there is some room for me to be less graphic about the description of it.

I hope I haven’t offended anyone already. As always, thanks for playing! I’m still having great fun with this campaign, and I can’t wait to show you what Synthcorp has in store for you.

No problems on my end as a player.

And even Goethe doesn’t have too much problems…yet. Though, ruthless killing does tend to come back and bite one in the ass in this world, so Geothe’s tolerance will only go so far. After all, Synthcorp is pretty much Geothe’s enemy at this point, since they’re only keeping him alive as long as he’s useful to him, so in a kill or be killed situation, Goethe will happily be on the giving end.

But 4509 is going to have to be very careful if he doesn’t want to end up on Geothe’s bad side. Not that Goethe is likely to do anything directly, after all, in the running world it takes all kinds, but Goethe will likely write him off as another crazy overcybered freak and try to stay as far away from him as possible.

Chaos, it’s bad for business.

The next update post is very large, and requires some extra effort on my part. I just want to check in and let you all know that I’m working on it, and you can expect it to be posted before midnight tonight, PST in approximately 12 hours.
