I was in college in the late 80’s and during one of my Shakespeare courses we had a weekly or maybe every other week viewing of a production of the play we were reading at that time. They were produced by a English troupe. We found it humorous that they same five or six really good actors would don wigs or beards from one production to another. But they were actually very well produced I thought. I would really like to figure out if these are available on DVD, but have not been able to find them.
Here is all I know:
- 1 troupe, multipul plays
- English actors
- NOT the late 70s-early 80s BBC productions
- the filming had that definite look of being filmed on a soundstage (soap opera quality lighting, though I seem to remember some outside scenes)
- no actors that I recognized at the time from a high profile movie career
Dang, that’s not much to go on, but if anybody can sleuth it out, I know the Dope can.
