I am honestly netural about this, but some people (or many) get offended when their favourite daily news site (be it local news, global news or computer news) run Apirl Fool articles. How many countless times have people taken those articles at face-value and clinged to them for eternity? How about the angered readers who berate the news site for lying to them? Some argued that as a news site, the site shall be responsible and think thrice before spreading mis-information. Some just say it’s all in the name of fun.
What do you guys think?
I think it’s irresponsible for some self-proclaimed bastion of truthful journalism to joke around with something on, say, the front page. Keep the main headers/headlines legit. It’s April Fool’s Day, we all know it, we’ll all get pranked in time. We don’t need CNN pulling our leg.
If you must include a prank, keep it in one of the lighter sections- entertainment, probably. Or maybe contained within an article about April Fool’s Day, although, that might ruin the joke.
Especially not in the middle of a war.
A highly controversial, media-driven, rumor-infested war.
