Letting that guy think it was ‘flatulence’, not ‘flagellants’!
You never quite made that clear in the column…
I wondered about that myself, but I figured this–

–counted as tactful hints, rather than simply beating the guy over the head for being a dumbass. It also gives Cecil a nifty starting point for a fabulous riff in his closing paragraph.
