shampoo help

I have thin, fine hair- so I go for volume without it feeling dry or crunchy.

-I use Pureology Volume shampoo and Pureology Volume conditioner.
-I use Joico leave in detangler if I need it as it doesn’t add extra “weight” to my hair like a leave in conditioner can.
-I deep condition 2 time a month with Sexy Hair brand Healthy Sexy Hair Pumpkin Puree Treatment Masque.

I really don’t buy that thing that you can use any cheap shampoo and splurge on the conditioner. I tried that.

Cheap volume/color treated hair shampoo followed by a quality conditioner = straw for hair.

I changed nothing but the shampoo in my hair product line up when I experimented with that.

The drugstore version of Nexxus is my favorite but I agree with you, it is pricy. Have you thought about “portion control”? I find that the stuff is so rich that it really only takes a dab. One bottle costs an insane amount, but can be made to last a long time.

Greta,

I have naturally very curly, dry hair, extremely prone to frizziness. The Kérastase range is a must have for me, especially their Oleo Relax serum. Especially since I will persist in drying/ straightening my hair with hot irons which makes it easier to control but ultimately increases the dryness/ damage.

I also deep condition my hair once a week by lathering on a rich conditioner and leaving a shower cap on it for a few hours. This really makes a difference to controlling the frizz. I use Philip Kingsley’s Hair Elasticizer Mask for this, but to be honest, any really rich conditioner will help.

This is true for me - the brand of shampoo doesn’t really matter. The type of shampoo matters a little, but not all that much. But heaven help me if I use the wrong conditioner. And it’s not even the price, I’ve had expensive conditioners work horribly and cheap ones work rather well (until they change the ##&*@ing formula. They never change it so it works better, never.)

It is hair detergent. It just cleans it. They are all the same.

They are not all the same if your hair is long. Mine is long, wavy, fine, and thick. Tangles like a thicket.

Pureology volume shampoo and conditioner makes my hair wash & wear and it looks great.

Occasionally I use a Redken shampoo and conditioner (Climatress? Something like that) and my hair doesn’t look as good but feels nice and silky.

If I use cheap shampoo & conditioner, it just doesn’t work as well, and I have to do a lot more to make my hair look good.

That may be, but there are many different types of hair and they don’t all respond to various shampoos the same way. I know women with gorgeous hair that swear by cheapo stuff like Suave, but unfortunately brands of that ilk turn my coarse curly hair to fried straw.

Which is why I am with evangelinagirl.

Biolage gives me fabulous feeling hair, even if I have to cash in my spare change jar to buy it.

I’m a Bedhead girl these days. The raspberry fragrance is to die for.

Plain old herbal soap, followed by a weak vinegar rinse. I have long thick hair that hangs past my tailbone, and I swear by this stuff. No static flyaways in the wintertime, fairly easy to comb (at least, no more difficult than when I used to use regular shampoo and conditioner), and nice clean shiny hair.

Another vote for Biolage. I have thin, fine, curly hair that has given me grief for decades. Tried pretty much every cheap brand on the market, including all of those used by the OP. Finally sucked up the cost and switched to Biolage a year ago and I will never go back to the cheap stuff.
