Here’s my Photography Website.

I’m not sure I understand that there would be a crowd that would not tolerate advertising—it seems pretty commonplace on the web these days But certainly, you know your audience better than I do, and sometimes it’s nice to just do the site for the sake of doing it (all my sites started out that way, and would again, if I find that the advertising gets too obnoxious or obtrusive).

However, Amazon.com’s associate program is very “transparent,” just links, and it can help out with hosting fees as well. There are a few other associate programs at cj.com (commission junction) that I’ve used, because I am going link to these places anyway. I don’t know if your site links to any online stores, but if you do, it wouldn’t hurt for you to see if these online stores run affiliate programs.

Nice work!

I liked the “Monk’s Dwelling” pic.

MaDa Productions. Though “productions” is a little misleading, as it implies that we “produce” something. Nonetheless, if you want an hour of free entertainment (in the form of short, silly, and strange movies to watch), there’s where to go.

I am old. I am very smart, but I am also afraid of (as most of us old people are) unexpolored (by me) technology.
I need a mentor, or maybe, one of you would like to start an adopt-a-grandma program.
I have a site but somone else does everything to it. I want to change my pictures, I want to add words, my words. :frowning: I don’t know how. I want to learn to do it myself, but I don’t know where to start, except, I am intitled to a free web page through our high speed internet provider.
I really need a mentor…

if you adopt me, I’ll need to know… my e-mail address is… in the thingy with my name.

Here I am. Pen for hire.

Sam Stone your 10 Things I hate about Star Trek was spot on! Brilliantly funny.

While you are tracking down a mentor of local introductory web design course, start with an introductory HTML textbook from the library (idiot’s guide for dummies etc.). Find some simple web pages, and look at their source code (select View then select Source). Then start playing around with your own coding.

Oh Muffin dear Muffin you have no idea how computer impaired I am. I have no idea what you just referred to… well, ok, I know what a library is… and I have a vague recollection of “textbook”
It took me weeks to figure out how to transfer my LPs to CD. and I’m still screwing up about every third one.
I know, its simply a block. And I know I will “get it” eventually.
My son was my computer go-to guy. When he died, I’ve kind of let the concrete harden around my feet.
Its been 4 years, and I’m beginning to venture out, but ya gotta stop with the elbow in the ribs.
All seriousness aside, I do appreciate the suggestions and will put my brain in danger of blowing up as soon as I find out where the library is.
M.

Crow Aptok. It was originally a repository for clients whose sites I was working on, but I was getting so many emails from people asking “what does Crow Aptok mean?” that I added the FAQ section, and then I thought I’d add a plug for my brother’s band, just in case, and then I added some of my rants from the SDMB and some other glurge. It will eventually also contain my round-the-world travelogue. Watch this space!

You know about links and are able to insert them into your text (and inserting photos is pretty much the same).

You know about special characters.

You know how to adjust text size and shape.

You already know how to use markup tags at an introductory level using vBulletin. All you need to do now is learn to a slightly different set of markup tags using HTML rather than vBulletin, and then upload (move) what you create in your word processor over to where your service provider has a place set aside for your website.

Here is a website to get you going.on it while you a tracking down a mentor or an introductory course in HTML. http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Internet/WWW/HTMLPrimerAll.html

As Attention Whore 2004 (my title is about run out! ) I had to jump in and say me, me, me!
I’m thisclose to adding Marilyn Monroe.

If you check out the about the artist section, you can tell I’m no good at updating. I just never have anything much to say. Shocking, ain’t it?

My hubby does pretty much everything for me technology-wise. If I make a page myself I do it with Microsoft Frontpage. There you can design a web page as easily as writing a letter. I know they aren’t the super advanced pages but it would be a nice start and you can always look at the HTML Frontpage generates to see how things were done…

The crowd I get on the site, is the type if someone puts anything promotional in the message board they tear them apart.

The crowd is aging punks … many of them don’t trust comercialism, heck - they don’t trust anyone.

They are a great crowd and are helping us with lots of other stuff, but the life bread of the site is the contributors, and if they thought that anything of theirs was being used commercially, some would pull out.

www.WestHoustonATA.com.

Click on Meet The Instructors. SWMBO is the cute one. I’m smiling 'cause I get to hang out with her, even if she does kick my butt every now and then whether I need it or not.

This is mine.

Nothing huge, just has some artwork and other such fun stuff on it.

modro, that is too cute!
What’s with the “system error”, though?

It’s an old computer… It get’s kinda loopy at times

What is this MS frontpage you speak of ?

I was finally able to add more pics to my page, I’m changing my my username here from “Tony Montana” to “Vanity Smurf”!
