Sharon Stone and that scene from Basic Instinct,

I’ve seen video captures on the net. You can barely see hair, and not much of anything else, too much shadow. And I was really looking.
Plus, all she did was uncross her legs, so her legs are only a few inches apart.
I won’t link, but there is a site called Mr. Naked or something that is nothing but nude and topless scenes from movies. You’ll find it there, but it may cost ya.

I think xizor is referring to Mr. Skin, which may be found at www(dot)mrskin(dot)com. Link not appropriate for the workplace, I suspect, although it’s a pay site, so maybe the inital page is OK.

I’m not a Mr. Skin subscriber, but have heard him on several radio interviews. He specializes in getting to the “good parts” of movies.

If there is a definitive answer to be had to this question, I’m sure his site has it.

I think what she’s muffed about is that with the poor lighting it looks more like a nutria than a beaver. Sharon reportedly doesn’t seem to have had any problem with showing a large percentage of Hollywood her pelt on numerous occasions. For her to cry foul now seems more than disingenuous.

Muffed.

Ha!

Thanks Bricker, this is exactly the site I was referring to. Sometimes parts of the site are free, like they do different top ten lists that don’t cost to get to, but it is a subscription site.

When I was younger, I had heard this rumor too. I decided to find out for myself. So I diligently spent several hours using “slow motion”…

The movie, dumb though it was, had some mild significance because it was one of the first to get an “NC-17” rating. For the first time, movies with high production values, A-List stars and (semi-)explicit sex were being marketed to a mainstream audience. It had been tried intermittently in the seventies, but on shoestring budgets.

In the age of internet porn and cable channels, Basic Instinct now looks quaint and tame, but somebody had to start somewhere.

[sub]video game?[/sub]

And- yes- they really would have arrested her for smoking.

I thought the big kerfuffle about the movie was that she did it without a, um, “wig.” I’m told that most beaver shots in non-porn movies consist of the actress wearing a pubic hairpiece, or “merkin” if you will.

The big deal was that she went with the real “MerCoy.”

Which makes her a “True 'Merkin Hero” like John Wayne.

Or Beaver Kneivel.

Joe Eszterhas’ comment was that Sharon Stone knew exactly what was going to be shown, and that makeup and hairstyling people had spent 20 min powdering and combing between her thighs before the shoot!

Of course, Joe is full of shit and loves to tell titivating stories so is he telling lies? Who knows?

Since everyone here is on the web, safe to say they all have access to beaver shots.

But I know what you mean, I remember when you had to go to the Big City for stuff like narcotics and wide open beavers. That’s the way the world is supposed to work  .

Huh? According to the Internet Movie Database, the theatrical release of Basic Instinct was rated R, not NC-17.

Are you sure you aren’t thinking of Showgirls ?

Hmm, I distinclty remember a fuss being raised at the time. Maybe there were small edits made to just barely (hah!) qualify Basic Instinct for an “R”, i.e. they chickened out.

The first time I heard the phrase “NC-17” was in connection with this movie, no question.

For those who are a little too interested, here’s some reviews of the scene.

AFAIK, this is work-safe, but there’s a banner ad at the top that hasn’t been porn that I’ve seen, but you never know.

Nope, not work safe. Tiny naked woman icon.

Purple monkey diswasher?

when I first saw BI on HBO, the shot was kinda blurred- then when it came out on video, I was amazed by the comparable clarity

I swear I saw cleft!

of course, now you can see cleft on HBO regularly

I thin HBO Family might blur it tho L

How much detail can you play the DVD in anamorphic mode on a Widescreen TV?

Er, I mean:

How much detail can you see if you play the DVD in anamorphic mode on a Widescreen TV? (You know, with the full 480 scan lines in 16x9 aspect?)

Stone Shmone…For me it was Jeanne Tripplehorn bending over that couch and getting those panties torn off that was the ‘hey now’ shot for me.
