shaving questions...

Another YAY!!! for the Mach3. It produces a vastly closer and more even shave than any other razor or electric that I have used. This is the razor Jesus would use.(If he didn’t have a beard.)

Mach 3 is the only razor I’ve ever used that gets the beard off without a lot of cuts, though I still have to shave in all different directions, especially below the jawline. I tried the Turbo, and all I got was more blood. By the way, I bought just the Turbo blades, and they fit into the regular Mach 3 holder, so if you want to go Turbo, you don’t have to buy an entire new razor (of course they don’t tell you that).

I am also a firm believer of the Mach 3. I have tried others in a bid to get by cheaper (no mistake about it, the Mach 3’s are expensive) but I always end up going back to the Mach 3. I had been considering the Turbo but hadn’t tried it because it was even more expensive and the Mach 3 works just fine. Well I recieved a free Turbo in the mail last week and just tried it out this morning. It worked fine, but couldn’t see any difference in from what I currently use.

For the people with the problems with the razor bumps, have you tried and aftershave lotion? I use Afta aftershave lotion everytime after a shave and it cut down on any irritation I had. I don’t get any razor bumps anymore, and if I do it just means that I used the blade one too many times and I need to switch to a new one next time.

Is electric razor shaving faster than blade shaving? Entering law school and soon I will be looking to save time everywhere!

What is this wondrous method?

As I posted in this long ago thread, the formal name for razor bumps is Pseudofolliculitis Barbae. Plenty of links in the old thread to potential solutions to the problem.

Nah, it’s not really a hassle at all. I have a shaving mirror in the shower, so I just shave while I’m showering every morning - bada boom, bada bing - I’m outa there. I very rarely cut myself. If you have thick hair, there really is a noticable difference with an electric; it just doesn’t get it all shaved off. And if I spend enough time scrubbing the electric over and over my face to get anything resembling a close shave, I end up with very irritated skin. I also noticed a higher prevalence of ingrown hairs when I used an electric. BTW, I use the Good News twin blade disposables, and they work great.

As for the bumps thing, I was goofing around in a drug store awhile ago, and I saw Shaving Powder. I looked at the can, and it was marketed at African American men, and claimed to be a way to avoid getting “bumps” from shaving. I guess it’s some sort of chemical like Nair that makes the hair fall out?
