why, when, and where (country or culture) did men start shaving the hair off of their faces? when did it turn into an art form? (mustaches and goatees)
The History of Shaving says shaving started around 1000,000 BC. when Neanderthal man started pulling hair from his body. The first razors (made of flint) date from 30,000 BC.
I liked the part where the Spaniards didn’t know the Carribs plucked their beards with bivalve shells, and thought they were hairless, chin-wise.
I’d like to know how they KNOW Neandertals plucked their hair… and I dont beleive the reading it on cave walls idea.
Fossilized stubble in their fossilized sinks. We men were pigs then, too.
I don’t believe that Groucho Marx shaved his eyebrows, either.
