Shazam!

Late saturday night TV Land played an episode of SHAZAM!.
I couldn’t believe it. I was laughing my ass off. Yes, now I have no ass.:stuck_out_tongue:

Does anyone remember this show? It was saturday morning fare in the early/mid 70’s (1973 or '74 I think). Super corny plots, criminally bad acting, and special effects that make Ed Wood look like George Lucas, when compared to the producers of Shazam!

I remember being 13 or so when this came on in the 70’s, and even then I found it absurd.

My TV Guide says it’s on TV Land again, saturday (technically sunday) at 12:30. Watch it. It’s hillariously bad. Really bad.
Brings back good (good? ) memories of the 70’s.

I remember Shazam!. Didn’t they have red jump suits with silver lightning bolts down the front? IIRC, the sister show to Shazam! was Electrowoman and Dynagirl.

Haj

a (maybe the) sister show to shazam was isis.

Vague memories…Billy Bateson drove around in a Winnebago, and when a disco ball thingy lit up on the dash, that was when the animation gods called Billy for a consult. At which point he’d scream out 'SHAZAM" and suddenly the Big Red Cheese would appear.

Taped this to watch when I got home from work with Inu Yasha. Ah, memories! The cheap effects (the Elders, the transformation sequence, Capt. Marvel “flying”), the Winnie with the lightning sticker on the front (so much for the secret identity), the slapstick comedy interludes of Billy, the music used in a zillion Filmation series (is this stuff available on CD?) - I recognized every note and musical cue. I love how everything the Elders said would literally be borne out before the episode was over, and Billy had to flashback to things that they had said mere minutes before to put it all together. God, were we ever spoonfed plot points back then.

I loved it! I’ll be taping it for a while just for the nostalgia, now if they would just re-pair it with Isis. How about digging up Jason Of Star Command and other live action kiddie cheese while you’re at it TV Land?

Can’t you imagine Patrick Warburton as Captain Marvel? Just hope the TICK hasn’t scared him off of superhero roles.

There was an animated Captain Marvel, for a while anyway.

I believe it was Filmation, too.

Isis was way hot (at least to this young’un).
