Well, I finally found this thread (and NOT in IMHO, so it took me a while until I remembered the link in G’Dope!!) and your words are eloquent and evocative robinc308. Australia is by far the best country in the whole world, and although we whinge about the heat, the bushfires, the floods, the blowies and John Howard, it does grab you by the goolies in some special way, and doesn’t let go. This is my own, my sacred land.
And yeah, ain’t the 90 Mile Beach something special on a cold winters morning with the wind blowing straight off the Antartic? Not another silly soul for miles either way…you feel so insignificant in the face of such powerful elements, yet at the same time it places you firmly in the bigger scheme of things too. If you get a chance, get down to the coast further east (Croajingalong) between Thurra River and Wingan Inlet. Now that is somewhere you can really find yourself!!

Not to hijack your lovely Australia appreciation thread, but you could substitute “cold” for “hot” in your OP, and you’ve damn near perfectly described how I feel about Canada. No wonder Canadians like Aussies so much.
