Want to totally recommend BBCs mini series to those who haven’t seen it.
The format sounds stale, a present day revamping of Sherlock Holmes, but its incredible.
The writing is excellent, totally original, the characters exceptional and there are no cliches’.
Sherlock is selfish and disinterested in the victims except as a part of a puzzle that it amuses him to solve.
The crimes themselves are perplexing and his deductive processes are both interesting and believeable.
I don’t wish to spoil future watching but you never know whos going to die or when, no matter how sexy/cute or lovable they are.
I think that it is one of the finest pieces of television that I have ever watched.
I hope that they do more episodes and keep them to the same incredible level of writing.
Actually, it’s going to appear on Masterpiece on PBS. WGBH in Boston co-produced it. (I actually prefer that it appear on PBS instead of BBC America, as PBS is commercial-free and I can get it in HD, unlike BBC America.)
Third episode was pretty good - better than the second anyway.
As far as I’ve been able to find out, these 3 episodes were it for this year. Plans are apparently underway for another few episodes next year. Damn you BBC!
Still, I think it is one of the more interesting new BBC series. The photography and set design was generally very good (but the sound/cuts in the planetarium were WAY too frantic for me) and the stories and personalities were engaging.
Has anyone made the obvious comparison to House M.D. yet?
