Brilliant
P.S. like the hat.

Ah, Gabrielle, Xena’s jailbait sidekick… Good times…
So, now are we thinking the same of Hercules and Whatsisname, the curly blond guy?
Yeah, Herc and Iaeolus were mentioned a while back.
How about the Joker, Riddler, King Tut, and Catwoman from the Adam West-era Batman show?
Let’s also not ignore Lex Luthor from Smallville.
Hoover, maybe. D-Day, definitely not - he was way too interested in war and destruction. I just can’t picture it.
Were there any straight characters on that show?
Alfred ?
Wern’t the A _Team mostly gay?
As I recall from that episode (season 3, The Furies), Xena lays out a case that Ares COULD be her father. But that is all the further it goes, it is never said that he actually is.
Russell
(the above being about Q)
Don’t forget, he also appeared in Picards! Maybe he’s bi.
…One of which is Evangelion’s Kaworu Nagisa, who proclaims his love to Shinji. It’s definitely a spiritual love rather than teenage lust, but Shinji and Kaworu’s reactions to each other show that there’s a (potential, as it turns out) physical, erotic element there as well.
Shinji himself I’m not sure about. He fancied the pants off Asuka and was emotionally involved with her to a disturbing extent, but Kaworu was the only person he ever seemed to really love.
Not my fandom (though I’ll pick up the R1 DVDs once I sort out a few technical issues), even though I know most of the plot, but are you talking about Knives x Legato*, Knives x Vash, or Vash / Wolfwood?
Another character I’m not too sure about is Dante from the Devil May Cry games. Is it the impeccable grooming? The enormous compensatory sword? The enormous compensatory guns? The butt-hugging scarlet leather trousers? He’s probably straight-but-will-make-exceptions rather than ‘properly’ bi or gay, though. He does like Lady.
Vergil… well, it’s my personal opinion that he’s gay, but who knows? I don’t know what his VA usually sounds like, but some of his lines sound a little flirtatious. I’m kind of reminded of Jecht from Final Fantasy X, specifically the ‘you were always such a stiff, but that’s what I liked about you’ line. Either Jecht’s VA was playing him as attracted to Auron, or he tried for ‘companionable’ and got it very, very wrong.
Every male RPG character ever is gay. If they constantly flirt with the ladies, they’re trying to fool themselves. If they have no particular interest in romance, it’s because they haven’t met Mr. Right. If they’re celibate or actively reject romantic attachments, it’s because Mr. Right broke their hearts. If they spend time with other men for any reason, they’re either having sex or wishing they were. If they have a wife/ girlfriend, she’s a beard. If they have children, then either they did it because they had to or because they hadn’t yet realised their true sexuality.
This is the real reason all RPG worlds have so few towns and cities.
takes tongue out of cheek and goes to re-read Videogame Recap’s FFVIII recap
*Just in the anime, here.
Oh! This exact thing happened to me, too! I thought Jayne said “Kaylee here just wishes she (Kaylee herself) was a gynecologist.” Only after the second time I watched it did I figure out it was “he”, referring to Simon. But I watched the entire series (the first time) under the assumption that it was common knowledge Kaylee was bi, and nothing seemed to contradict that. So, I still think so. Besides, remember the “Hey, you” greeting she and Inara exchanged? So something going on there.
Huh. I never thought Kaylee was gay, but I had that same read of the line. I just figured it was Jayne being an asshole who thinks that calling someone gay is a big insult.
All of the above.
And, in the manga, Elindra x Knives.
There was also Kamatari, from Rurouni Kenshin.
Well, all the character designs after FF7 were definitely quite pretty, to say the least.
I can’t figure out the Amano designs, though.
Except Castlevania’s Alucard. He’s definitely got something going on there, especially with all those frilld.
More anime:
Saeba Ryu of City Hunter. Sure he’s a lech - but it’s all overcompensation. All of it. (Which is why Kaori is so right for him - she’s quite mannish, really.) Just for example, would he really keep falling for Saeki’s various ‘nights of passion’ gambits if he were really after her body?
Not Starbuck, Noooooo!
Miss Hathaway, from The Beverly Hillbillies.
We’ve started watching Firefly and I got all those Inara/Kaylee vibes too. Although Inara did say she wouldn’t sleep with any of the crew.
Especially since on the ep with the councillor, Kaylee says “I knew she took female clients”. One wonders how, since the rest of the crew didn’t know.
