She's a lesbian and he's gay. And in other news, the pope is Catholic

What TV and movie characters could be most plausibly revealed as being gay without doing violence to the character’s previous history? Of course the character has to be ostensibly gay or at least uncommitted; there’s no point to listing Willow Rosenberg, in other words.

Here’s a few to get things started:

  1. Mr. Sulu from Star Trek: TOS
  2. Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU.
  3. Jake Sisko from Star Trek: DS9
  4. All Hail Opal!
  5. Clarice Starling from The Silence of the Lambs

C’mon, Fab. Jake was sexin’ it with Dabo Girls in their twenties when he was sixteen.

Odo could conceivably be revealed as a bisexual hermaphrodite.

Worf’s son, Alexander? Totally gay.

Wesley Crusher? Gay.

Geordi? Blind and gay.

Tasha Yar? Gay.

Captain Janeway? Gaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Seven of Nine? Gay.

Garak? Gay.

Q? Omnipotent and gay.

Does “gay” or “straight” have any meaning when you’re talking about Changelings?

That’ll teach me to hit hte send button too soon.

Of your list, I often thought Garak was gay, and quite possibly 7 of 9; she needed Janeway’s approval A LOT more than she liked admitting to yourse.f. Tasha, too, I can see, and Alexander. Not the rest, though.

OMG! The Pope is a gay Catholic lesbian??!! I KNEW it!

I think you meant ostensibly straight did you not?

Princess Ardala in Buck Rogers. Swung both ways, I’m sure of it.

It wouldn’t shock me at all if Shepherd Book was gay, although as a celibate priest, it wouldn’t really make a difference. Same goes for the various Jedi Knights we see in the Star Wars prequels- Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, etc.

Kaylee Frye could have made a convincing bisexual (as Willow should’ve been, IMO)… someone that loves others for the person that they are, regardless of gender.

::finds none::

EC, are you feeling okay? :frowning:

What? But she runs off with Hannibal at the end of Hannibal! (albeit under hypnosis)

Geordi’s little crush on that holochick doctor aside, as well as his one episode fling with that one black alien girl, when in the entire history of ST:TNG did Geordi ever seem like he had a hard-on for women? The first season crush on Tasha Yar? Puh-leeze. He wanted Yar as his beard.

Q has to be gay. Much as I hate to stereotype, his outfits and wardrobe changes alone were just too fashionable and frequent for a heterosexual omnipotent being to fiddle around with.

Wesley kisses Ashley Judd in one episode and you’re ready to declare him straight? Dude ran off with the Traveller!

I don’t get that vibe from her. She doesn’t have a very eventful love life (so far as we know), but I have seen her get laid by at least one guy (a sleazy newspaper reporter, and she had cause to regret it), and I’ve never seen her even flirt with a woman.

::sticks fingers in ears:: I can’t hhhheeeeaaarrrr you.

I don’t recognize that book as canon. I feel instead that Thomas Harris blew through two or three advances in Italy while he was supposed to be writing the book and was contacted by his editor at St. Martin’s Press demanding a manuscript. He then dashed off Hannibal over a weekend, intending that it would be recognized as so awful that the publisher would demand a rewrite; then, to his horror, they printed it, forcing him to go into hiding.

Anyway, I meant MOVIE Starling. She struck me as very gay.

AND THERE IS NO BOOK ENTITLED HANNIBAL.

Who?

The movie Clarice, maybe. The book Clarice, definitely not.

Daria & Jane, from Daria.

Mokey & Red Fraggle from Fraggle Rock. (Oh, right, like I’m the only guy who picked up on it!)

And is “Cuddles” from Happy Tree Friends male or female?

Even in Silence of the Lambs (the book), she has an actual flirtation and, at the end, makes a date, with one of those geeky entomologists from the Smithsonian.

How do we know she isn’t? She seemed awfully fond of Inara. They might have had who-knows-what kind of slippery naughtiness in that shuttle.

Hercules, Iolaus, Ares - gay

Ok, since I missed the Star Trek stuff, I’m going to take a crack at Star Wars.
This is not entirely serious, but with some poetic licence, I think the following might be meandered to:

  1. Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine likes only young boys.
  2. Obi Wan Kenobi is in the closet (gay somewhere in the back of his mind)
  3. Chewbacca - hot for Han Solo, but knows it would ruin their friendship
  4. Princess Leia - swings both ways, AND may be into incest
  5. Bib Fortuna is Jabba’s ‘Mr. Slave’
  6. Jabba is multispecial/multi-sexual, sees sex purely as a power play
  7. C3PO - secretly hot for R2D2, but has deep-seated frustration from R2’s constant rejection. He gets moody about the whole thing.
  8. Boba Fett hits for both teams with S&M - he’s into disintegrations, had an experience with Darth Vader once
  9. Governor Tarquin doesn’t wash after torture sex, leaves a foul stentch for all to smell up and down the halls of the Death Star.
  10. Biggs is gay - couldn’t wait to give Luke the ‘Low-down’ after the battle.

Enjoy!

Tell it to the pope!

I’m pretty sure she actually sleeps with him in the book. But, as I said, I was referring to MOVIE Clarice. (Read the OP.)

I was going to say Marge’s sister Patty from The Simpsons – but it appears she already came out, in an episode I missed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patty_Bouvier#Romantic_Liaisons

It’s so hard to keep up.

Lorne from Angel – not even a close call.
