Shodan crosses the line

Right. Consider the following argument:

P1. I would do anything for a cup of coffee right now.
P2. Mass genocide is a thing.

C: I would commit mass genocide for a cup of coffee right now.

As anyone can see this argument suffers from false equivocation. The “anything” referred to in premise one obviously refers to anything which is legal and appropriate to the situation, where as premise 2 assumes the literal definition to mean absolutely any and everything in the universe.

I think it is a fair thread to criticize political opponents for using this type of fallacy.

But still pretty entertaining. I mean, come on - that huffy little “How DARE You!!!” OP, and from BrainGlutton of all people. And then the cherry on the shit sundae, and it disappears without a ripple in the sewer of self-righteousness that makes up the SDMB.

Comedy gold! Gold, Jerry, I’m telling ya!

Shodan

That’s fair.

It’s a pretty weak pitting, for sure.

The irony is not lost on all, I assure you.

The funny this is that the Democrats have a vested interest in making the King/Bachman Republicans the faces of their opponents. I contend that for the last few years, this has been very easy because it’s largely true.

Maybe Shodan’s response to this OP should be along of the lines of this.

Hah! That’s perfect.

Sorry, missed that sticky.

Of course, as a liberal, you have the same vested interest in seeing it that way.

What’s ironic is that you don’t appreciate this.

That must be why they control the House and are poised to take over the Senate.

But enough of this, and darn you, Bricker for injecting serious discussion into my Pitting! Less logic, and more scatology.

Make it so!

Whatsamatta - don’t you read my signoff?

What are the contrary facts **iiandyiiii **and the rest of us should consider in making that judgment? What reason is there to offer to consider it a partisan, rather than objective, conclusion?

Sure, I appreciate this. I think it’s true too, but I’m also glad that it’s somewhat easy to paint King/Bachmann/Cruz as the prime-mover of the political opposition, as opposed to, say, Paul or Christie.

Let’s all calm down. No one is disputing the current Republican Party has been immoral and devoid of an agenda other than hate and obstruction. And I doubt even Shodan believes Reid’s statement was improper or misguided. So, we probably should be able to find middle ground and end this partisan bickering.

Where’s the fun in that?

Kill the commie!!

No one?

I’m pretty sure he’s being sarcastic.

Look, there is no higher priority for the GOP than regaining control of the Senate. And obstructing Obama. And enslaving the poor.

OK - among our chief priorities are such diverse elements as regaining control of the Senate, obstructing Obama, enslaving the poor, and polo.
I’ll come in again.

Shodan

I wish it were possible to be sure - especially since **Bricker **and his wannabe **Shodan **are indeed among the deniers, on this very page.

It’s all easy as long as the audience is limited to yourself and a likeminded audience.

Enjoy.
